Sinopsis

This essay is like an addendum to my other book: ”A Different Outlook on Bipolar Disorder”. Its objective is to make readers aware that this condition can be healed. This booklet, or pamphlet, can be viewed as both an introduction and an epilogue to my successful book: ”A Different Outlook on Bipolar Disorder - Ups and Downs to Buddha Sate: There is no Shame in Aiming for Happiness”. It has become the biggest-selling book in the French market on this subject, and I am really thrilled about this. This current book has also achieved its objective, which was to frankly tell my story, and also enable many others with this condition, or those who live with people with the condition, to better understand it and to find help on how to overcome it. Positive reactions from many readers over the years have made me realize just how far these objectives have been met. I thus would like to encourage you to read through these pages and learn for yourself. I finished writing the book at the age of 37 years, and I did not know then how my life would turn out. ”A Different Outlook on Bipolar Disorder” provided an answer to this question. This current booklet will equally answer all your questions, and I hope everyone will feel encouraged to read over and over my autobiography, which is full of hope beyond expectation. You too can be healed. Read on to find out how this is possible. I am living proof to this. It takes courage, strength, understanding, hope and faith. I am fully convinced that one day this condition will be viewed from a totally different perspective. It is my most sincere hope that my story will have contributed to this.PUBLISHER: TEKTIME

An "enlightening and fascinating" exploration of Scotland's royal women, from Lady Macbeth to Mary Queen of Scots and beyond (Booklist).

The lives of the Scottish queens, both those who ruled in their own right and the consorts, have largely been neglected in conventional history books. One of the earliest known Scottish queens was none other than the notorious Lady Macbeth. Was she really the wicked woman depicted in Shakespeare's famous play? Was St. Margaret a demure and obedient wife? Why did Margaret Logie exercise such an influence over her husband, David II, and have we underestimated James VI's consort, Anne of Denmark, frequently written off as a stupid and willful woman? Rosalind K. Marshall delves into these questions and more in this entertaining, impeccably researched book.

Winner of the Eric Hoffer and Benjamin Franklin literary awards, this biography tells the story of Rama, Dr. Frederick P. Lenz, (1950-1998), an enlightened spiritual teacher who taught a brilliant, boundary-breaking form of American Buddhism to tens of thousands of people.Rama could heal people whom he never met. He naturally filled large auditoriums with sparkling rays of golden light—the essence of his being. He made huge audiences shake with laughter, as he filled them with luminosity and joy. Omens of an unusual, not special, life began in 1953, when, as a toddler, he slipped into samadhi—a timeless state of immersion in infinite light—in his mother's garden. His journey continued after high school, when he flew from Connecticut to Kathmandu, Nepal, with a homemade snowboard, seeking to snow-surf the highest mountains he could find. On his first downhill run, he plowed into an aged Buddhist monk, who told the incredulous teen their meeting was destined, that his past life enlightenment would return, and he would help millions of people. Upon his return to the US, he earned his PhD and began to teach on his own, and implemented new ways of placing independent and skeptical Westerners on the path to enlightenment, beginning with higher and happier states of mind. As his own realization deepened, the energy he emanated was like a huge timeless force of pure love. This biography includes interviews and stories from over 100 students and colleagues, each with a different perspective. Rama did not just speak about enlightenment; he modeled it. Compassionate, controversial, wise, honest, prescient, reverent, irreverent, he was always teaching and still is.

'From its first paragraph almost to its last, Smith's precise, luxuriant prose style dazzles in its ability to simultaneously set off syntactical fireworks and marshall precisely into shape the considered thoughts of a lifetime's intellectual curiosity and self-reflection.' – Dylan Moore, Nation.Cymru
A boy running around a running track in the early evening opens a memoir of candour and insight.
From a working-class Rhondda childhood through to the glamour of Barry Grammar and onto a coveted Balliol College scholarship and study in New York, David Smith was the rising intellectual star of a generation. In this beautifully written memoir Dai Smith engages and entertains with a personal life and times with the characteristic verve of a writer who has illuminated the modern history of the people of South Wales.
