Sinopse

Amerigo Vespucci was an Italian explorer, navigator and cartographer who first demonstrated that Brazil and the West Indies did not represent Asia's eastern outskirts as initially conjectured from Columbus' voyages, but instead constituted an entirely separate landmass hitherto unknown to Europeans. Colloquially named the New World, this second super continent came to be known as "Americas", deriving its name from Americus, the Latin transcription of Vespucci's first name. Learn more about the man who gave his name to the new continent, read his personal letters, diaries and what his contemporaries wrote about him. Former CIA operations officer Robert Marro Jr. pens a gripping memoir about his close friend and confidante, the famed enigmatic exorcist, bestselling author, and Vatican insider Malachi Martin. In this riveting firsthand account, Robert Marro Jr. pulls back the veil on the life of the mysterious and controversial Reverend Dr. Malachi Martin. Over the course of their decade-long friendship, Martin revealed secretive details of the Vatican's efforts to combat Stalinist Iron Curtain governments during the Cold War. Martin also revealed to Marro previously unknown details of the controversial Third Secret of Fatima, which to date has still not been fully disclosed, despite Vatican protestations to the contrary. Marro also sets the record straight on Martin's status as an ex-Jesuit priest and alleged womanizer. Martin was not only a renowned exorcist who literally fought the demons of Hell—he was a Dead Sea Scrolls archeologist, Cold War Vatican spy, and advisor to three popes. In Malachi Martin, Marro pulls back the curtain on the only priest who could legitimately be called "The Indiana Jones of the Catholic Church."

Christopher Columbus was an Italian navigator and explorer who made 4 explorations across the Atlantic Ocean, paving the course for European discovery and settlement of the Americas. His journeys were the first European contacts with the Caribbean, Central America, and South America, and were financed by the Catholic Monarchs of Spain.
Christopher Columbus is an Anglicization of “Christophorus Columbus,” a Latin name. Columbus was born in the Republic of Genoa and spoke a Ligurian dialect as his mother tongue, according to most intellectuals. He went to sea at an early age and traveled all over the world, as far north as the British Islands and as far south as Ghana. He wed Filipa Moniz Perestrelo, a Portuguese noblewoman, and resided in Lisbon for some years, but later on wed a Castilian girlfriend, with whom he had one child. Columbus, who was primarily self-taught, was skilled in geography, astronomy, and history. He created a technique to find a western sea path to the East Indies, with the objective of benefiting from the wealthy spice trade.
Christopher Columbus has had a huge impact on the discovery of the American continent, and is still honored and respected to this day, despite of the controversies around his behavior and interaction with the locals. Let’s see what these contradicting opinions are all about.

If you're looking for the events that inspired the lyrics to all my songs? Those stories are in this book. If you're looking for what I did when I was younger? That's in here. What changed me, made me stop hating and hurting? It's all here. This is my story and I'm sticking to it. That's the one thing I have, the truth.

Volume one of Black Heart Fades Blue, a three-part memoir by the founder and frontman for one of punk rock's most notorious acts, Poison Idea

In 1980, Jerry A. formed Poison Idea, a Portland-based punk band that gave voice to disaffected and disenfranchised youth for over thirty years. As happened to so many punk bands, Jerry A. and Poison Idea also went all in on drugs and drinking as they toured the country, spiraling out of control and blowing both the band and their lives apart.

Black Heart Fades Blue is not an apology or a nostalgic catalog of events, but a true reckoning with one's past and present. A memoir of a time and a place and a movement, as well as a deep conversation about the memories and moments we leave behind, Black Heart Fades Blue is a deep exploration of an unconventional life.

A novel of Felice Bauer, Franz Kafka's first fiancée, and the story behind Letters to Felice

Franz Kafka scholars know Felice Bauer, his onetime fiancée, through his Letters to Felice, as little more than a woman with a raucous laugh and a taste for bourgeois comforts. Life After Kafka is her story. The novel begins in 1935 as Felice flees with her children from Hitler's Berlin, following her family and members of Kafka's entourage—including Grete Bloch, Max Brod, and Salman Schocken—as they try to escape the horrors of the Holocaust. Years later, a man claiming to be Kafka's son approaches Felice's son in Manhattan and the drama surrounding Kafka's letters to Felice begins.

While taking the measure of literary fame's long shadow, Life After Kafka depicts the magic and poison of memories, and what we cling to when all else is lost. Most of all, it illuminates the bravery required to move forward through the shattered remains of one world to rebuild life in a new one.
