Sinopse

Left penniless and alone after her parents’ sudden deaths, beautiful young Alina Langley is desperate to earn some money to pay off their debts when, quite out of the blue, her friend the glamorous Denise Sedgewick, arrives at her home from London in a smart carriage. Now a famous Society beauty she has come to ask Alina for help. The man Denise loves has gone to Rome, upset after Denise deliberately made him jealous at a party and Denise is desperate to follow him and win him back. Her plan is to travel with her cousin, Lord Teverton, who is on a special Diplomatic mission for the Prime Minister, but her father will not let her go without a proper chaperone. Since there is no one else she can really trust, she persuades Alina to pretend to be her mother, Lady Langley.Dressed as a sophisticated woman of nearly forty when she is just twenty, Alina meets the unfriendly but handsome Lord Teverton, who is instantly entranced by her. The trouble is, so is the persistently amorous Prince Alberto Borghese, who pursues Alina with considerable determination and cunning. And when Lord Teverton comes not once but twice to her rescue, Alina realises that she has fallen completely in love with him, but how can she explain that she is not the woman of the world she pretends to be but a simple girl who has never before been kissed?

STANDING IN THE SHADOW OF DEATH - THE SWORD OF DAMASCUS
BOOK 3 OF 3 IN THE DEMON GORGE TRILOGY – THE FINALE
Gideon couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He was spellbound and awe-stricken.
The apparition glided nearer and nearer. The detective could now see clearly that the spirit was carrying in her arms an actual baby child, alive and well, one that was as beautiful as one of the cherubim of heaven with a yellow halo of light encircling its form. It was only the light that illuminated the woman’s form.
Gideon remained frozen, not moving a limb of his body.
The apparition glided over to the dry well. Then, with her back to Gideon, the baby clasped to her chest, and her head bent over the edge of the well, she looked down into the deep, dark shaft below her.
“Oh, my God,” Gideon whispered, “by all that is Holy!” cried the detective. “By the power of the Holy Spirit, be it ghost or flesh and blood, I will not allow her to throw that child into the well!”
And with that said, he began running up to the well where the woman or spirit stood, ready to kill another child. Finally, he got there where the radiant form of the woman with the baby in her hands and her eyes fixed on the depths of the well in front of her!
Gideon reached her, intending to seize her from behind and whirl her with the child from the brink of the dry well. But ---.”

Edmée Elizabeth Monica Dashwood, née de la Pasture, and more commonly known as E M Delafield, was born in Steyning, Sussex on 9th June 1890.

Raised in the fading years of the Victorian era with its Empire and strict moral codes Delafield, not yet married at twenty-one, joined a French religious order, in Belgium, but soon decided that this was a totally wrong choice for her.

Her next challenge was her work during the horror of the First World War. Delafield decided to take up a position as a nurse in a Voluntary Aid Detachment in Exeter. It was whilst here that she managed to write her first novel, ‘Zella Sees Herself’.

With the end of the war new opportunities were sought and she now took up a position for the South-West Region of the Ministry of National Service in Bristol. With it came enough time to write two more novels: ‘The War Workers’ (1918) and ‘The Pelicans’ (1918).

On 17th July 1919, she married Colonel Arthur Paul Dashwood, OBE, an engineer responsible for building the massive docks at Hong Kong Harbour. The marriage produced two children; Lionel and Rosamund. That same year her fourth novel, ‘Consequences’, was published.

The couple spent their early years in Malaya but returned to England to live in Croyle, an old house in Kentisbeare, Devon. Delafield continued to collect responsibilities and organise whatever she could. At the initial meeting of the Kentisbeare Women's Institute, Delafield was unanimously elected president, and also became a Justice of the Peace, raised the children and, of course, continued to write her best-selling novels.

Her greatest work is undoubtedly the largely autobiographical ‘Diary of a Provincial Lady’, which is a simply structured journal of the life of an upper-middle class Englishwoman, living mostly in a Devon village of the 1930s. It spawned several best-selling sequels. Her works also includes stage and radio plays, film scripts and short stories.

After the death of her son in 1940, her health began to markedly decline.

E M Delafield died on 2nd December 1943 after collapsing whilst giving a lecture in Oxford. She was 53.

A love too good. Power and intrigue can't fill a void in any heart but set it searching for something more.
Gabriella and Nocter fell in love as most do, but the difference was theirs bloomed in the sea. Their world was surrounded by the magical realm of the ocean, so their hearts were easily lulled into pristine moments that promised to be shining collections of the most amazing golden memories. They couldn't get enough of each other, nor could they steal enough moments to be satiated.
Nothing could separate them, nothing but what did. When things seemed too good to be true, the truth shattered their hunger for love and splintered it into a billion cells of heartache that not even the vastness of the sea could hold.
Rejecting Queendom is an HEA Open Door Romantasy, where the romance is first and foremost. Human written and human narrated by Ruan Willow.

There is a commonly held belief the tropical storms and hurricanes that form off the coast of West Africa are not natural disasters, but rather they are retaliation by restless spirits impacted by one of the darkest chapters of world history—the trans–Atlantic slave trade.

Awiti's destiny was forever changed the day the slave raiders arrived at her village. She made a life-altering decision with the hope of being reunited with her family, only to discover her effort was in vain. For centuries, her sadness raged within the winds and rain, resulting in tropical storms that devastated the South. But there is more to Awiti than creating hurricanes, as those who have encountered her love and wrath will attest. The truth is, there is so much more.

Follow her story from mid-fifteenth-century Africa to twenty-first-century New Orleans in this historical fantasy that will leave you questioning the impact of the trans–Atlantic slave trade on the physical and spiritual realms.
