Sinopsis

The Quirt is a gripping Western adventure set in the rugged cattle country of early twentieth-century Idaho. Britt Hunter and his old friend Frank have spent years eking out a living on the Quirt ranch, a modest outfit hemmed in on nearly all sides by the sprawling Sawtooth Cattle Company. The Sawtooth, run by the politically connected Bill Warfield — a state senator as much as a cattle baron — has long been expanding by swallowing up smaller ranches, sometimes through suspicious "accidents" that are never quite pinned on anyone.
Into this world of quiet intimidation and frontier hardship comes Lorraine Hunter. Raised by her mother in California and accustomed to Western "movies," Lorraine imagines ranch life as something exciting and glamorous — only to find the real West is remote, lonely, and unforgiving. Caught in an open storm, she witnesses a brutal murder, and from that moment the fragile balance between the Quirt and the Sawtooth begins to crack
At her side is Lone, a steadfast cowboy who tries his best to stay out of other people's business — and finds he cannot. The novel examines the quiet strength required to endure isolation, hardship, and disappointment, particularly within the bonds of family and loyalty, as pride and emotional restraint shape the choices of those hardened by landscape and labor.
