Sinopse

Mud Run Training serves as a complete guide for anyone aiming to excel in obstacle course racing (OCR). It emphasizes that success in OCR demands a holistic approach, combining specialized functional strength training, endurance development, mental preparation, and obstacle-specific techniques.

The book highlights the inadequacy of standard gym workouts for OCR, noting that athletes must develop strength applicable to dynamic environments, such as rope climbs and wall traverses. It also underscores the importance of endurance, not just for running, but for sustaining performance through varied terrains.

The book progresses logically, starting with fundamental principles like goal setting, injury prevention, and nutrition. It then delves into developing physical capacities, such as upper body strength and core stability, before exploring course-specific techniques for navigating mud pits and scaling walls.

Culminating in comprehensive training plans tailored to different experience levels, from beginner to advanced, and guidance on race-day strategy, Mud Run Training bridges the gap between generic fitness advice and the specific needs of OCR athletes. It sets itself apart by emphasizing practical application, offering step-by-step instructions and realistic training plans.

Sports vision is an often-overlooked area that can be leveraged for improved performance. Most athletes invest in equipment and training without ever thinking about their vision.
Many scientific studies have highlighted the relationship between vision and on-field performance, and most professional sports teams employ a sports vision specialist to ensure all team members have optimal vision and visual function for success.
This audiobook, written by one of the premier sports vision specialists, details the knowledge gained over a 30+ year career working with Professional Athletes from all major sports from Premier League football to Olympic athletes, as well as almost every Professional league in the USA.
Beginning with a detailed review of how and why vision is important in sports, the book takes the reader on a journey through the vision system, identifying the areas critical to performance.
This audiobook spotlights the different areas that impact sports performance. From basic visual abilities (spoiler alert: 20/20 vision is not normal for an elite athlete and is rarely enough for optimal performance) to how the brain uses vision to make a decision and then how an athlete uses vision to make a perfectly executed motor action.

Sent blind soon after birth David Hume stubbornly refused to live the limited life well-meaning elders and social norms expected. 'I do not wake in the morning and regret I'm blind. No, I wake and look to another win in a busy life.' To date, that encompasses years in a blind institute, two marriages, grieving for two outstanding wives, founding recruiting firms, devising marketing techniques, facing business collapse, sailing ocean races and through much of it, being the lead singer in popular bands. If you enjoy a short biography that inspires, saddens, cheers and sticks in your memory, then don't put aside Blind Without Barriers.

In 2009, Notts County FC were on the brink of bankruptcy when they were taken over by a mysterious company supposedly backed by the Bahraini royal family. The club was promised millions of pounds worth of investment and a list of marquee players, including Sol Campbell and Kasper Schmeichel were signed, in a recruitment drive led by former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson, who was appointed to take the club all the way to the Premier League.

However, within weeks, as the bills began to pile up, the dream came tumbling down as it transpired that the club, the players and the fans had been tricked by a convicted fraudster called Russell King.

The world's oldest professional football club found itself at the centre of one of the most outlandish frauds in sporting and world history, which spanned the globe from Nottingham to North Korea, involving fake sheikhs, fast cars, broken promises and a trail of destruction.

'EIGHT YEARS WITH RANGERS, MORE THAN 300 GAMES, INCREDIBLE HIGHS, PAINFUL LOWS – AND IT ALL CAME DOWN TO ONE NIGHT IN THE NOU CAMP'
24 May 1972. The biggest night in the history of Rangers. Having overcome the might of Italian giants Torino and Beckenbauer's Bayern Munich en route to the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup, Dynamo Moscow stood between the Light Blues and the trophy.
The stage was set in Barcelona for an unsung hero: Dave Smith. Creator of two of the goals on the night and arguably man of the match.
In a rollercoaster career, Smith joined the Ibrox club from Aberdeen in 1966 for a record fee. He tasted defeat in the 1967 European Cup Winners' Cup final and had his career blighted by two horrific leg breaks during a period in which he also experienced the tragedy of the Ibrox disaster.
But by 1972 Smith was a lynchpin of Willie Waddell's team. Playing as sweeper, he dicated the tempo of games with his vision and pinpoint passing. The star of the Nou Camp victory was voted Player of the Year in Scotland to cap the most memorable of seasons.
He departed Rangers in 1974, making a shock switch to Arbroath after a fallout with new Ibrox manager Jock Wallace, before going on to star overseas in South Africa and then alongside George Best for the LA Aztecs in America. Rejecting the chance to join Paris Saint-Germain, Smith chose to end his career in Scotland's lower leagues as player-manager at Berwick Rangers where he would find success and happiness playing the game the way it was meant to be played.
