Sinopse

"Athletics Stars" presents a compelling exploration of track and field's greatest achievements through a data-driven lens, examining how record-breaking performers have continuously redefined the boundaries of human athletic potential. The book masterfully weaves together three key narratives: the evolution of world records, the technological and scientific advancements enabling these achievements, and their broader impact on society and sports culture. Through meticulous analysis of official competition records and scientific studies, it reveals how each generation of athletes has built upon previous benchmarks to push performance limits further. The narrative progresses systematically, beginning with fundamental metrics of athletic excellence before diving into the complex interplay of specialized training methods, nutrition science, and equipment development. Particularly fascinating is the book's examination of biomechanical analyses and training logs, which provide concrete insights into what separates record-breakers from their competitors. The work's strength lies in its ability to balance technical detail with accessibility, making complex concepts understandable for both sports professionals and enthusiastic general readers. Each chapter presents detailed case studies of specific events and eras, offering readers a comprehensive understanding of how athletic achievement has evolved over time. The book stands out for its objective approach to controversial topics while maintaining engagement through practical insights into training methodologies and performance optimization strategies. By connecting multiple disciplines – from physics to sociology – it provides a unique perspective on how human athletic capability continues to evolve in track and field sports.

What do you do when the unthinkable happens - and it happens to your child?
The Year After Kahlia is a raw and unfiltered memoir of the first twelve months after losing my daughter to suicide. It’s not a polished healing journey; it’s survival, it’s the truth most people are too afraid to say out loud.
Across a year of shock, numbness, guilt, anger, love, and unbearable longing, I take you inside the real experience of grief; the kind that changes your brain, your body, your identity, and your place in the world.
But this book is more than a story.
I explain what is actually happening inside you when grief hits; your nervous system, your hormones, your thoughts, your memory, your sleep, your body’s survival responses. I give you the language for things that often feel unspeakable.
And alongside each chapter, I offer gentle journal prompts, grounding tools, and reflection questions - practical ways to stay tethered to yourself when everything feels impossible.
This audiobook is for anyone who has lost someone they can’t imagine living without.
It’s for suicide-loss parents, supporters, and anyone wanting to understand grief from the inside out.
    I don’t offer silver linings.
    I don’t minimise the pain.
I simply tell the truth - with love, with courage, and with the hope that you feel less alone in your own ache.
If you’ve ever thought, “No one else gets it,”
I hope this book proves that someone does.

"A gorgeous heartfelt examination and celebration." - Editor's Pick, Booklife Review of Publisher's Weekly
Art & Love is the memoir of a woman’s quest to master the ancient art of egg tempera painting, gain confidence as an artist and find lasting love.
It’s 1966 and unaware that a counterculture tsunami is brewing, Lora Arbrador arrives in Berkeley, California where she is introduced to egg tempera, a painting technique that combines colorful pigments with egg yolk. Lora falls in love with this luminous medium but cannot find a teacher to unravel its mysteries. Her love life is similarly marked with many failures.
Art and love converge when she falls for a tender, charismatic artist, but after their eight-month immersion in the great museums of Europe, Lora follows him into a commune that she later realizes has become a cult.
Set against a backdrop of huge cultural changes – from the counterculture of the 1960s and back-to-the-land movement of the 1970s, to the AIDS epidemic and sex underground of the 1980s – Art & Love is a journey of creative and emotional fulfillment that captivates, educates and entertains the reader.
Arbrador’s stunning artwork enhances the narrative, inspiring those grappling with their own artistic expression and longing for love.
Includes her bonus essay “Which Came First? A Taste of Egg Tempera History.”
