First published in Ladino in 1564 as, Sefer Hanhagat ha-hayimIn 1729 as “Reghimiento de la vyida”, this three-volume edition is part of the prestigious collection Veritas è terra orietur. The introduction by Jean-Pierre Rothschild, Director of Research at CNRS and Director of Studies at EPHE, specializing in medieval philosophy, enlightens the reader on the foundations and stakes of the work. The first volume aims to provide practical advice for leading a good life from an early age. It emphasizes the distinction between spiritual, physical, and external goods (Volume 1, chapters 1-3), including suggestions on dietary habits, sleep and waking, going to bed and getting up, walking and sitting, speaking and silence (chapters 4-10), the four types of discourse, and why the righteous die young (chapter 11). Finally, it addresses questions on eschatology, classical philosophy, and theodicy (chapters 12-14). “Conduct of Life” draws heavily from the Nicomachean Ethics but transcends this source by situating itself at the universal intersection of several traditions: Greco-Arabic philosophy, Judeo-Christian scholasticism, classical Sephardic Judaism, and medieval Jewish thought. Thus, this work contributes to peace and intercultural understanding among peoples.

She lived in ancient Mesopotamia during the 23rd century BCE and held the esteemed position of high priestess in the city of Ur, which was a thriving center of Sumerian civilization. Enheduanna's literary works and religious contributions have left an indelible mark on the cultural and literary landscape of ancient Mesopotamia. Enheduanna was born in the city of Ur, located in what is now southern Iraq, around 2285 BCE. She was the daughter of King Sargon of Akkad, who established the Akkadian Empire, and Queen Tashlultum. Being born into a royal family, Enheduanna enjoyed a privileged upbringing and received an exceptional education in literature, religion, and politics. At a young age, Enheduanna's intelligence, eloquence, and spiritual devotion were recognized, leading to her appointment as the high priestess of the moon god Nanna at the renowned temple in Ur. This position bestowed upon her significant religious authority and influence within the society, making her a powerful figure in both the political and spiritual realms. Enheduanna's most significant contributions are her literary works, which include a collection of hymns, poems, and prayers dedicated to various deities. These compositions were written in the Sumerian language, the oldest known written language in human history. Through her writings, Enheduanna expressed her deep reverence for the gods and sought to establish a personal connection between the divine and humanity.

  A student union recently estimated that “40,000 students are now prostitutes in France.” The primary cause is the growing precariousness and high cost of student life. This study, carried out in 2006-2007, is a vivid description of the novelty of this form of prostitution. It is practiced discreetly, occasionally, independently, via the Internet, mainly by young female students who call themselves “escorts.”
  The book’s findings are twofold. While student prostitution is first and foremost linked to a precarious economic situation and low-income parents, it can sometimes be experienced as a means of emancipating oneself from a framed sexuality, from a life that’s too smooth, or of taking “revenge” on the myth of Prince Charming. Also, this type of prostitution differs from so-called “traditional” prostitution—selection of clients, “friendly” atmosphere, socialization through generational and social class differences.
  The fact remains that for these students, the “choice” of becoming a prostitute is dependent on a series of social and representative breakdowns, frequently linked to the power of money, the attraction of certain material signs of wealth, and also to a double domination: masculine and socio-economic.
