    The Ravens
A flock of ravens floats upon the air over their prey,
Like a looming black storm cloud of gloom,
In the later hours of the death of the day,
They fight each other for room,
In the melee, one is injured it falls,
Blood and gore fill the air,
The air is filled with their dire calls,
Little did the observers of this carnage care,
To them, it was merely a display of the nature of the raven,
    Upon the hour they fled,
They were neither crazed nor craven,
    They were happy and well-fed.

A crumbling convent school is on the verge of insolvency, when a young postulant begins to display strange heavenly powers. And when a dashing film executive arrives to buy the rights to her story, the Reverend Mother refuses to put profits over prayer. Playwright Charles Busch made his name with genre-skewering hits like Psycho Beach Party, Die Mommie Die, and The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, which L.A. Theatre Works recorded in 2007. This time around, we present Busch’s high-voltage spoof of religious melodramas, starring three of the principal players from its original 2010 Off-Broadway run. An L.A. The church building has been pivotal to man’s spiritual and religious life for centuries.
For many the interior of a church is literally their one to one with God. The interiors, whether soaring or simple, ornate or minimal, are built for communion, for worship.
Outside and surrounding our many churches is the churchyard; the burial ground, the repository for faithful souls. An all-weather idyll of calm around where many a poet has sat and contemplated the surrounding world.
The stone may be old, weathered and worn. The trees and grass overgrown and wind-blown but this is a sanctuary, a shelter from frenetic life. Moments here in reflective solitude make thought redemptive. This is unquestioning ground that makes no demands on those who seek to stop and wonder.
Within this volume of glorious verse questions are asked, decisions are made. And whether of Faith or not this oasis of calm brings solitude, renewal and an awareness that Life can produce answers to the most pressing of problems.

LibriVox readers present the ninth collection of monologues from Shakespeare’s plays. Containing 20 parts. William Shakespeare (April 26, 1564 – April 23, 1616) remains widely to be considered the single greatest playwright of all time. He wrote in such a variety of genres - tragedy, comedy, romance, &c - that there is always at least one monologue in each of his plays. Some of these teach a lesson, some simply characterize Shakespeare at his best, some are funny, some sad, but all are very moving. Each monologue will touch everybody differently. Some people will be so moved by a particular monologue that they will want to record it. (summary by Shurtagal)
