Sinopsis

Anthony Trollope's "Ultimate Collection" serves as a comprehensive compendium showcasing over 100 of his novels, short stories, articles, memoirs, and essays. This anthology encapsulates the breadth of Trollope's literary oeuvre, characterized by its vivid characterizations, intricate social dynamics, and astute observations of Victorian society. From the comic intricacies of 'The Chronicles of Barsetshire' to the biting satire of 'The Way We Live Now,' Trollope's masterful narrative style blends realism with moral depth, offering a window into the era's prevailing attitudes and class struggles. His works are not merely stories; they are insightful explorations of the human condition, deftly interwoven with themes of ambition, love, and social justice. Born in 1815, Trollope was not only a prolific novelist but also a civil servant, which profoundly influenced his perspectives on society and governance. His experiences in the Post Office, alongside his travels abroad, illuminated his understanding of the various societal layers in England and Europe. Trollope's multifaceted career lent him a unique voice that resonated with contemporary readers while paving the way for future generations of writers, solidifying his place as one of the foremost novelists of the 19th century. I highly recommend this collection to both newcomers and seasoned readers of Trollope. It not only serves as an indispensable resource for understanding his contributions to literature but also invites readers to reflect on timeless themes that remain relevant today. Dive into this ultimate collection to experience the rich tapestry of character and social commentary that defines Trollope's legacy.

There has never been a definitive, forensically detailed history of Oasis and their music; a book that takes listeners to the heart of the band's work and what lay behind it in the kind of deeply researched, knowledgeable detail that has been afforded The Beatles, perhaps most notably with Ian MacDonald's Revolution In the Head, which examined every Beatles song in chronological detail. The authors' intention is to write the book that satisfies the many millions of fans globally similarly obsessed with Oasis's music, but who currently only have scattered social media pages to turn to add depth to the story. Leading music journalists Hamish MacBain and Ted Kessler deliver the definitive, chronological history of the songs of Oasis that will appeal to fans old and new, in doing so, bringing the wider Oasis story into play in glorious color. The pair have interviewed both Gallaghers dozens of times between 1994 and 2024, and no other journalists can claim more—or more lively—encounters with Liam and Noel. The book will also revisit each interview in the first-person, chronologically throughout, to add unique perspective and texture to the wider story. MacBain and Kessle will also dissect sleeve-art with the designers and photographers, delving into each detail surrounding the band. This is a veritable Oasis treasure trove!

A road trip becomes a dead end for a schoolteacher in this haunting cold case of murder that became a fifty-year fight for justice.

In June of 1968, Irene Izak, a young French teacher from Scranton, Pennsylvania, was pulling an all-nighter on the road toward the promise of a new life in Quebec. The last time she was seen alive was at 2:09 a.m. by a toll collector at Thousand Island Bridge who claimed Irene was visibly afraid. Less than a half-hour later, Irene was found bludgeoned to death in a ravine bordering DeWolf Point State Park. There were no signs of robbery or sexual assault. For reasons unknown, Irene had been compelled to pull off the interstate and abandon her car, only to be brutally murdered.

Irene's body was discovered by State Trooper Dave Hennigan, who'd stopped her for speeding shortly before—and issued the young woman a warning.

Blending novelistic suspense with true-crime reporting, author Dave Shampine investigates a crime that shook the communities of northeast Pennsylvania and New York's North Country—a vicious and confounding killing that has remained unsolved but not forgotten.

"My Adventures with Your Money" is a book written by George Graham Rice, an American journalist and writer who was active in the early 20th century. The book is a memoir that recounts Rice's experiences as a "stock tout" or promoter of fraudulent investment schemes during the early years of the stock market.
Rice was notorious for his involvement in a number of "get-rich-quick" schemes that promised high returns to investors but were actually fraudulent. He used his skills as a writer and public speaker to promote these schemes and lure investors into investing their money.
In "My Adventures with Your Money," Rice describes his various schemes and the methods he used to manipulate investors. He also provides insight into the mindset of the people who invested in these schemes, many of whom were driven by greed and a desire for quick wealth.
Overall, "My Adventures with Your Money" provides a fascinating look at the history of the stock market and the culture of fraud and speculation that characterized the early years of American capitalism. It is also a cautionary tale about the dangers of investing in schemes that promise unrealistic returns

The first full reappraisal of one of Britain's great fighter aces, this book examines the truth behind Tuck's 1956 biography, Fly for Your Life. It looks at the evidence behind the myths, checks out some of the exaggerated stories and reveals the real Stanford Tuck. In January 1942 Bob Tuck was the top-scoring British fighter ace with an official score of twenty-nine enemy aircraft destroyed. During the Battle of Britain his legendary prowess grew and he was posted to command a leaderless and demoralized squadron, this time flying Hurricanes. He continued to prove he was an outstanding fighter ace, gaining the rare distinction of three DFCs and then the DSO for his leadership. He was shot down over France in January 1942. In January 1944 however, around twenty POWs, including Tuck, were purged to a new camp. Still determined to escape, Tuck and a Polish officer took a risky chance and made their way east to Russian forces and thence to England. This book reveals a more complex man than the one-dimensional hero of the previous biography. Post war, he became good friends with the Luftwaffe ace, Adolf Galland, and was a key advisor with him on the film Battle of Britain, and, often made many media appearances. His health suffered in later years from the impact of his war service and his imprisonment and he died aged seventy in 1987.
