What if true leadership begins with the courage to look inward?
In Alcibiades I, Plato stages a riveting dialogue between Socrates and the young, glory-seeking Alcibiades. As the young man prepares to enter politics and shape the fate of Athens, Socrates urges him to reflect on a deeper question: How can you lead others if you have not come to know yourself?
This modernized audiobook version brings clarity and intensity to one of Plato’s most inspiring philosophical encounters—where ambition meets wisdom and the path to greatness is revealed to lie within.
    What you’ll discover inside:
    •	A powerful dialogue on self-awareness as the foundation of leadership and justice
    •	Alcibiades’ internal struggle between ego and ethics, fame and virtue
    •	Socratic reasoning at its sharpest, uncovering truth through self-examination
    •	A clear, accessible translation ideal for personal development and political thought
Whether you’re on a journey of growth or exploring the foundations of wise rule, Alcibiades I offers timeless insight for mastering the self before mastering the world.

Basil Elton, a lighthouse keeper, engages in a peculiar fantasy in which a bearded man in robes is piloting a mystical white ship which appears when the moon is full. Elton walks across the water on a bridge of moonbeams, joins the bearded man on the ship, and together they explore a mystical chain of islands unlike anything that can be found on Earth. They travel past Zar, a green land where "dwell all the dreams and thoughts of beauty that come to men once and then are forgotten", then the majestic city of Thalarion, "City of a Thousand Wonders", where frightful demons dwell. They pass Akariel, the huge carven gate of Thalarion, and continue their voyage. Elton is informed that those who enter both places have never returned. During the voyage, they seem to be following an azure celestial bird. They also pass Xura, the "Land of Pleasures Unattained", which seems pleasant from a distance but reeks of plague upon getting nearer. They finally settle in Sona-Nyl, the "Land of Fancy", where Elton spends a period of time which he describes as "many aeons", living in what seems to be a perfect society. During his time in Sona-Nyl, he learns of Cathuria, the "Land of Hope". Though no man truly knows where Cathuria is or what lies there, Elton is thrilled with the idea, fantasizing about it wildly, and urges the bearded man to take him there, which the man reluctantly agrees to do. They follow the celestial bird westward. After a perilous journey to where the crew believes Cathuria to be, the ship instead finds itself at the edge of the world, and plummets to its doom. Elton awakens to find himself on the wet rocks next to his lighthouse, mere moments after he first departed on the white ship - and just in time to witness a catastrophic shipwreck caused by the light having gone out for the first time. He is further shaken by his later finding a dead azure bird and a spar of pure white.

A teenager is dragged by her beloved aunt to Weight Watchers and spirals toward harmful eating habits. Meanwhile, her dad is struggling with complications from diabetes, and her mom is escaping into the arms of someone unexpected. Hungry is a short story from Halle Hill’s Good Women, which delves into the lives of twelve Black women across the Appalachian South. Darkly funny and deeply human, Good Women observes how place, blood ties, generational trauma, obsession, and boundaries―or lack thereof―influence how we navigate our small worlds, and how those worlds so often collide in ways we don’t expect.

All I want is to leave my past of criminal hacking behind. Oh, and ditch the blackmailer who has been dogging my every move for the last three years.

The plan: Hack my way into being part of Class Alpha, a training program for a secretive organization that rescues hostages the government can't or won't go after. Save the world and make enough money to pay back my blackmailer—solves all my problems, right?

The complication: Sweet, nerdy, and unbearably sexy Eric "Harvard" Physick. Harvard is my ideal man, but he's also my instructor. Seriously a no-go, except we can’t seem to keep our hands off each other.

My blackmailer isn't willing to let me off the hook, though, and a series of freak accidents—deadly accidents—sends Class Alpha into a tailspin. And the more I get to know Harvard, I start to realize his past is just as troubled as mine.

Am I the cause of this chaos . . . or is he?
