Sinopse

Team Space Goals explores how international collaboration in space, particularly on the International Space Station (ISS), provides valuable lessons for addressing global challenges. It examines the history of multinational space missions, highlighting the shift from the Cold War space race to present-day international partnerships. The book argues that the unique demands of space exploration necessitate a level of cooperation and shared purpose that can be adapted to tackle issues like climate change and global health crises.

The book dissects the operational dynamics of the ISS, revealing how astronauts and scientists from diverse backgrounds effectively collaborate in a confined environment. One intriguing fact is how integrated mission planning and cross-cultural communication protocols contribute to shared risk management. Another insight involves the resource allocation strategies used on the ISS, which are crucial for long-term sustainability. By analyzing these mechanisms, the book identifies key principles applicable to other domains.

Structured in three parts, the book begins with the history of international space collaboration, followed by an in-depth analysis of the ISS's organizational structure and daily routines. It concludes by exploring the potential applications of space-based collaboration models to address global challenges. Team Space Goals presents evidence from NASA mission reports, scientific publications, and astronaut interviews, offering a holistic understanding of successful international cooperation and its potential for solving Earth-bound problems.

Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American essayist, lecturer, philosopher, abolitionist, and poet who led the transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century. He was seen as a champion of individualism and a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society, and his ideology was disseminated through dozens of published essays and more than 1,500 public lectures across the United States.Emerson gradually moved away from the religious and social beliefs of his contemporaries, formulating and expressing the philosophy of transcendentalism in his 1836 essay "Nature". Following this work, he gave a speech entitled "The American Scholar" in 1837, which Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. considered to be America's "intellectual Declaration of Independence."Emerson wrote most of his important essays as lectures first and then revised them for print. His first two collections of essays, Essays: First Series and Essays: Second Series, represent the core of his thinking. They include the well-known essays "Self-Reliance", "The Over-Soul", "Circles", "The Poet", and "Experience." Together with "Nature", these essays made the decade from the mid-1830s to the mid-1840s Emerson's most fertile period. Emerson wrote on a number of subjects, never espousing fixed philosophical tenets, but developing certain ideas such as individuality, freedom, the ability for mankind to realize almost anything, and the relationship between the soul and the surrounding world. Emerson's "nature" was more philosophical than naturalistic: "Philosophically considered, the universe is composed of Nature and the Soul." Emerson is one of several figures who "took a more pantheist or pandeist approach by rejecting views of God as separate from the world."

In everything from health care and politics to technology and economics, we are experiencing feelings of loss, anger, and anxiety. In the Enneagram's wisdom, our number determines how we respond. We automatically move to another number when we're feeling stress and to yet another when we're feeling secure. Such moves may help us feel better temporarily but don't last.

For those who want to dive deeper into Enneagram wisdom, expert teacher Suzanne Stabile opens the concept of three Centers of Intelligence: thinking, feeling, and doing. When we learn to manage these centers, each for its intended purpose, we open a path to reducing fear, improving relationships, growing spiritually, and finding wholeness. Drawing on the dynamic stability of the Enneagram, she explains each number's preferred and repressed Center of Intelligence and its role in helping us move toward internal balance. Using brief focused chapters, this book provides what we need to deal with the constant change and complexity of our world to achieve lasting transformation in our lives.

Academia is not, by and large, a kind place. Individualism and competition are what count. But without kindness at its core, Catherine Denial suggests, higher education fails students and instructors—and its mission—in critical ways.

Part manifesto, part teaching memoir, part how-to guide, A Pedagogy of Kindness urges higher education to get aggressive about instituting kindness, which Denial distinguishes from niceness. Having suffered beneath the weight of just "getting along," instructors need to shift every part of what they do to prioritizing care and compassion—for students as well as for themselves.

A Pedagogy of Kindness articulates a fresh vision for teaching, one that focuses on ensuring justice, believing people, and believing in people. Offering evidence-based insights and drawing from her own rich experiences as a professor, Denial offers practical tips for reshaping syllabi, assessing student performance, and creating trust and belonging in the classroom. Her suggestions for concrete, scalable actions outline nothing less than a transformational discipline—one in which, together, we create bright new spaces, rooted in compassion, in which all engaged in teaching and learning might thrive.

There is spirit of slumber and sleepiness that is overtaking the world. And this causes you to fold your hands, and even stop praying to God; and causes you to close your eyes, and stop reading the word of God; and causes you to rest and stop being busy for God. The song at the end of the sermon "Don't wake me up Ukraine", sung by Chey, gives the listener time to reflect on Pastor Philip's message.
