Sinopsis

Hidden Thrones unveils the untold stories of secret rulers and concealed lineages that have significantly shaped world history. Moving beyond conventional narratives, the book explores the clandestine forces operating behind the scenes, revealing how unofficial rulers and powerful but unacknowledged groups manipulated political events. Consider, for example, how concealed family connections often influenced dynastic succession, subtly altering the course of empires.

The book progresses systematically, dedicating chapters to specific examples across key historical periods. Beginning with ancient Mesopotamia and moving through the Roman Empire to European politics, Hidden Thrones uses ancient texts and archaeological discoveries to support its arguments.

The central thesis challenges the completeness of official historical records, arguing they are often curated to benefit those in power. This unique approach offers a fresh perspective, shifting the focus from overt acts of power to the subtle mechanisms of influence, enriching our understanding of historical events.

Following the War of the Spanish Succession (1702–1713) a decade-long wave of sea-robbery plagued the Atlantic rim—often glamorized as the "Golden Age of Piracy". Boston-based laborer, Edward Low, left his mark on pirate history as the most vicious and sadistic raider of them all. Low's reputation, and those of other pirates, was crafted through newspapers and literature. Romanticized as anti-heroes and egalitarians in a monarchical world who had liberated themselves from the constraints of law and society ashore, these marauders came to enjoy an immortality bestowed upon them by generations of historians, novelists, and movie makers. That persistent gloss masks a more sordid reality.

Travers demonstrates that, feared as they certainly were, pirates were largely ordinary seamen trapped in desperate circumstances who, in the end, had little to show for their efforts. Contrary to popular portrayals, for pirates it was a time of radically diminishing returns, scant treasure, and increasingly successful suppression by state authorities. The Notorious Edward Low puts individual actors, from colonial governors to captains to common seamen, at center stage, and reveals how British authorities used new anti-piracy laws to reclaim authority over their fractious North American colonies—a compelling story with its own brand of true-life swashbuckling on the high seas.

    Quantum Paranormal: The Mystery Revealed
    Science Meets the Unknown
For centuries, people have told stories of ghosts, psychic visions, UFOs, and other strange events. Some call them supernatural. Others say they are tricks of the mind. But what if science can explain them? Quantum Paranormal explores how the strange rules of quantum physics may unlock the secrets behind the unexplained.
    The Quantum World
At the smallest level of reality, particles can exist in more than one place at once. They can connect across great distances instantly, and time itself can bend in ways we don’t yet understand. These discoveries suggest that the universe is more mysterious and flexible than we imagine.
    Exploring the Paranormal
This audiobook examines ghosts, psychic abilities, UFOs, and poltergeists through the lens of quantum mechanics. Could ghosts be echoes of alternate realities? Could telepathy and clairvoyance be explained by quantum entanglement? Could UFOs be visitors from parallel dimensions instead of distant planets?
    The Quantum Nexus
Quantum Paranormal also explores the “nexus,” where consciousness, observation, and reality meet. The observer effect shows that watching something can change its outcome. What happens when human focus or emotion bends reality itself? Could this explain paranormal encounters that defy logic?
    A New Understanding
By blending physics, psychology, and ancient mystery, this audiobook provides a fresh way to think about the paranormal. It does not demand belief. Instead, it invites listeners to consider that paranormal events may be natural results of how reality works at the quantum level.
    An Invitation to Wonder
Whether you are a skeptic, a seeker, or simply curious, Quantum Paranormal opens the door to a new way of seeing the world. The unknown may not be beyond science. It may be a reflection of the deepest structure of reality itself.

In its voracious hunger to fill its decks and spars with the bodies of strong young sailors, the nineteenth century US Navy and the commercial maritime industry welcomed eccentrics, criminals, outcasts, and misfits into a community of the marginalized, one that held very different values and expectations than the towns and villages from which the young men fled, a community that offered a tentative refuge to men who were sexually attracted to other men.

Drawing from biographies and autobiographies, diaries, newspapers, government reports, Congressional hearings, religious tracts, pornography, ships' logs, medical treatises, maritime fiction, court-martial reports, personal letters and business correspondence, Benemann provides an in-depth examination of nineteenth century LGBTQ culture as it developed at sea and in America's port cities.

In the fertile valleys along the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers, where mist clings to rugged mountains and flows through ancient bamboo forests, the foundations of one of humanity's most enduring civilizations were laid thousands of years ago. "Early Chinese Dynasties: The Dawn of Chinese Civilization" invites readers on a captivating journey through three formative dynasties that shaped the cultural, political, and philosophical landscape of China for millennia to come.
The semi-legendary Xia Dynasty emerges from the shadows of prehistory as China's first hereditary state, traditionally dated to the third millennium BCE. While archaeological evidence remains elusive, the stories of Yu the Great taming floods and establishing systems of governance provided the foundational mythology for Chinese civilization. Here, we explore both the historical debates surrounding the Xia and the archaeological discoveries at sites like Erlitou that may represent this elusive first dynasty.
With the Shang Dynasty, we step onto firmer historical ground. From their capital cities at Zhengzhou and later Anyang, Shang kings presided over a sophisticated bronze-working civilization that developed China's earliest known writing system. The oracle bones—animal scapulae and turtle shells inscribed with divination records—offer unprecedented insights into the religious practices, military campaigns, and royal genealogies of this brilliant Bronze Age society. The magnificent ritual bronze vessels they created, with their intricate designs and ceremonial significance, remain among humanity's greatest artistic achievements.
The Zhou Dynasty—China's longest-lasting royal house—would build upon these foundations while introducing revolutionary concepts that would define Chinese civilization for thousands of years.

Abraham Lincoln’s early years were marked by hardship, poverty, and a relentless drive to rise above his circumstances. Born in a one-room log cabin in Kentucky in 1809, Lincoln experienced the difficulties of frontier life. His family moved frequently, and his formal education was limited to less than a year’s worth of school. Yet, even in these early years, he developed a deep curiosity and love for learning. He read whatever books he could find, often borrowing them from neighbors, and was known to read by firelight late into the night. This hunger for knowledge became a central part of his identity and would later feed into his political ambitions.
Lincoln’s entry into politics began in Illinois, where he settled in the town of New Salem. There, he earned a reputation for honesty, storytelling, and a sharp intellect. He first ran for the state legislature in 1832 and lost, but he tried again two years later and won. As a member of the Illinois State Legislature, he began to develop his political skills and established a clear stance on important issues such as internal improvements and economic development. He aligned himself with the Whig Party, inspired by Henry Clay’s vision of a strong national economy. During this time, Lincoln also began to study law, teaching himself the subject and eventually becoming a successful lawyer in Springfield, where he built a respectable career and deepened his connections.
Though he was gaining traction in law and state politics, Lincoln’s ambition reached further. He served a single term in the U.S. House of Representatives in the late 1840s, during which he opposed the Mexican-American War and supported internal improvements. However, his criticism of the war was unpopular, and after his term, he faded from national politics for a while. Yet, Lincoln was far from finished. The moral and political debate over slavery rekindled his interest in national affairs.
