Sinopse

"Ancient Rome Unveiled" presents a masterful exploration of Rome's transformation from a modest Italian settlement to a vast empire that dominated three continents. This comprehensive work uniquely weaves together three crucial aspects of Roman civilization: its evolving political framework, rich cultural heritage, and pivotal historical events that shaped its destiny.Through careful analysis of primary sources, archaeological discoveries, and contemporary accounts, the book reveals how Roman innovations continue to influence modern society in governance, law, and urban development. The narrative progresses chronologically, beginning with the founding myths of Romulus and Remus and extending through the empire's decline, while maintaining thematic coherence across politics, culture, and social structures.Readers gain fascinating insights into Roman engineering achievements, such as the aqueducts that revolutionized urban living, and the complex social hierarchies that governed daily life. The book's examination of key events, including the Punic Wars and the formation of the First Triumvirate, demonstrates how each crisis and triumph contributed to Rome's evolution. What sets this work apart is its interdisciplinary approach, combining archaeological evidence, sociological analysis, and political science perspectives to create a complete picture of Roman civilization. The accessible academic style, supported by detailed maps and architectural reconstructions, makes complex historical concepts understandable while maintaining scholarly rigor. For students and history enthusiasts alike, the book offers a balanced examination of controversial topics, from the role of slavery to the impact of Christianity on imperial stability, presenting multiple scholarly perspectives that encourage critical thinking.

"Goldman was an admirer of Nietzsche and in many ways represents a model of a superior individual who is capable of rising above the herd instincts of the masses and embracing confrontation with danger. She never hesitated to countenance both the ire of public authorities and the scorn of public opinion. As contemporary anarchists have fallen into the mundane habit of politically correct conformity, a full examination of Goldman's thought suggests the need for a new anarchism that reflects the martial spirit of which Goldman was an exemplary. Emma Goldman is often depicted in current academic discourse, and the "Left" in particular, as a role model for feminists and a champion of the proletariat. Keith Preston however in reviewing each chapter of Goldman's most famous work "Anarchism and Other Essays" reveals that Emma Goldman often expressed ideas which many of her present day admirers will find surprising and unsettling. He highlights the fact that Emma Goldman distrusted the proletariat, wrote disdainfully of the early feminists who were her contemporaries, and expressed scepticism of women's suffrage."

The only goal Prince Syrius Fortune of Rosenhip had during his twin sister's "meet the suitors" ball, was to stay quiet and out of the way. His sister's event had been in the planning for five years, and he and his loving father had already agreed trying to seek a wedding contract for himself was not a good idea. Prince Syrius had quirks, and it wasn't as though he needed to open himself up to ridicule from someone else, especially a spouse he would have to get to know. The event was only a week, and being a lot smaller than his older brothers, Syrius was used to not being seen. Until someone saw him.
King Mintyn of Marinkaw had been a soldier since he was fifteen years old. He was not impressed to find out the one time of the year he was supposed to be meeting King Fortune to sign their Golden Straits agreement was apparently the one time his friend decided to have a huge event going on.
However, his aide told him he had been invited, and it was only one ball. Mintyn could enjoy some good food, network a while, and then leave the following morning once the treaty was signed. That was until he saw a young vision being hassled by an entitled duke. On learning the vision being hassled was his friend's youngest son, Mintyn decided to intervene. It was a nice thing to do. One shortened dance later as Prince Syrius walked away from him after he put his foot in his mouth, Mintyn told his aide to rejiggle his schedule. He had a spouse to woo.
This is one of those light stories that my muse weaves sometimes simply to make people smile. There are no deep and meaningful plot lines, just a bit fun between two men who look so unsuited for each other on the surface of things, but their pairing proves opposites do attract and stay together. It is in the same universe as the Infidelity Clause but is totally standalone. Watch for cameo appearances by a cupcake eating dragon, an episode of prince throwing, and potato cuffs.

After a bucolic childhood in Kovno, Lithuania, Sol was just eleven when the Nazis invaded and he and his family were forced to move into the Kovno Ghetto. The Kovno Ghetto was one of the only ghettos to later become a concentration camp, and Sol was among just a few Jewish survivors from Kovno. In this inspiring story of tenacity, character, faith, love, and forgiveness, we follow young Sol through heartbreak and fear, torment and torture. Through Sol's eyes, we learn the history of the communities in Eastern Europe, especially Lithuania, which has long been a gap in the wider history of the Holocaust. We meet the righteous few who helped save young Sol's life. After being imprisoned in five other concentration camps for a total of four years, Sol was liberated from Buchenwald on his fifteenth birthday. To this day, he still joyfully celebrates every year the day he was born and liberated.Despite the horrors of youth, Sol never lost his determination to live life to the fullest. He embarked on a new life in the United States and would thrive as a husband, father, grandfather, business owner, and an inspiration for the thousands who have heard Sol share his incredible story—and the lessons he has to share.Despite all that he suffered and all those he lost, Sol's courage and positive attitude continues to inspire as he actively seeks out and sees the good in others. He wholeheartedly believes in bashert, a Yiddish word that means "destiny," which gave him his "mission to educate others to love, not to hate." Life Must Go On is a moving and vital new addition to the history of the Holocaust and the chorus of survivor stories that resonate throughout the generations.

Alan Mathison Turing was a mathematician, computer system researcher, scholar, cryptanalyst, thinker, and theoretical biologist from the U.K. With the Turing device, which can be considered a design of a general-purpose computer system, Turing had a substantial influence on the development of theoretical computer technology, offering a formalization of the ideas of algorithm and calculation. Turing is considered the creator of theoretical computer technology and AI.
Turing was born in Maida Vale, London, and raised in the south of England. He earned a mathematics degree from King's College, Cambridge. He released a presentation suggesting that some simple math-- no questions can never ever be replied by computer system while a fellow at Cambridge, built a Turing device, and went on to reason that the Turing device's stopping issue is undecidable.
He got his PhD from Princeton University's Department of Mathematics in 1938. Turing worked for the Federal government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS) at Bletchley Park, Britain's codebreaking center where Ultra intelligence was developed, throughout WWII. He led Hut 8, the area in charge of German navy cryptanalysis, for a time. Here, he developed some methods for breaking German ciphers quicker, including but not limited to adjustments to the pre-war Polish bombe gadget, an electromechanical system that could recognize Enigma device settings.
Turing contributed to analyzing obstructed coded signals that permitted the Allies to beat the Axis powers in some crucial fights, including but not limited to the Battle of the Atlantic.
A movie has been made about him, called the “Imitation Game.” Let’s find out the real truth that doesn’t become obvious through this Hollywood production, the background of this conflicted but powerful genius.
