Nature’s year begins. Temperatures slowly rise. Green gradually becomes the dominant colour of the landscape. Rain from drenching showers to windy squalls help nourish the land. Nature has embarked on her epic symphony of the year.

Each year, each season, each day is a little different from her previous work. Days lengthen as her canvas and palette grows more confident. Colour emerges from the shades of monochrome. She is at work on tasks everywhere.

Naturally our classic poets rise to the challenge knowing that they will only be able to detail fragments or broad brush stroke the whole. They ponder, they write, they wonder.

Mr. President came to ABC radio in 1947 and lasted until 1953. Each half-hour drama was based on an actual incident in the life of one of the men who have held the office of President of the United States. The scripts were cleverly written in such a way as to not reveal the name of the President until the last line of dialog in the program, when the President would be addressed by name. The audience was thus encouraged to guess, from the plot of the episode, which President he was. The series was created by Robert G. Jennings and produced and directed by Dick Woolen. The stories were written by a team that included Jean Holloway, Bernard Dougall and Ira Marion. An expert research staff made certain that the facts depicted were accurate. Each and every week, the Chief Executive was portrayed by the same actor, Edward Arnold. Arnold appeared in over 150 films and had served as President of The Screen Actors Guild (1940-1942). A lifelong conservative Republican and staunch anti-Communist, Arnold was one of the first actors to seriously consider running for public office. After losing a close election for Los Angeles City Alderman in the mid-1940s, he expressed his views afterward that entertainment and politics were incompatible. Of course, he has been proven wrong numerous times since then. Enjoy 12 half-hour episodes of Mr. President, one of the best historical dramas ever heard on radio.

William Shakespeare's shortest—but one of his most popular—tragedies features a man who will do anything to fulfill a prophecy that will lead him to become the King of Scotland. Fresh from battle, Macbeth and his companion Banquo come across three witches who tell of great power that is in store for Macbeth. Driven by their prophecy and aided by his wife, Macbeth sets out on a journey that is wrought with deceit, murder, and suffering to acquire the throne of Scotland. At each and every turn, Macbeth must make choices that alter the trajectory of not only his life but every life around him, as he begins to fall mad with greed. This multi-voice production of The Tragedy of Macbeth features an all-star cast under the direction of acclaimed producer Paul Alan Ruben, a Grammy Award-winning veteran of the audiobook industry. With five AudioFile magazine Golden Voice recipients, multiple Grammy and SOVAS nominations, and countless Earphones and Audie Awards, this phenomenal cast brings Shakespeare's work to life.
