  Shunrō Oshikawa (1876-1914) was one the two most important founders of Japanese science fiction (the other being Unno Juza, 1897-1949). This story is a charming tribute to all those engaged in historical research. A young Portuguese child discovers an empty beer bottle on a beach. Her father, a well known scientist, discovers a message inside that may solve one of the greatest mysteries in the West African chronicles.  
  This is a radio version, and not a translation. It has been adapted for historyradio.org by Michael Henrik Wynn, and he also plays the part of the traveler.

  Vincent's first vivid childhood memories had flown with the wings of the wind, and they began to speak to him in a loud voice. He began to sink into them like quicksand. The glass of brandy slipped out of his hands, just as he had decided to pour himself a bit more of the alcohol, and shattered into many tiny shards with a loud bang. - Maybe it's a warning that I must change my life? - He saw nothing but a prism with white light. He was flying towards the light beam at a very high speed, just like the most powerful space rocket. The bright rays of light, like a white inclusive tunnel, began to narrow, and a mountain in the color of halva appeared in from of his eyes. He was flying directly towards it, just like the fastest eagle, and it seemed like he was about to crash into it. He felt scared of the unknown and that his body was moving by itself and that he couldn't control it anymore but, at the same time, he felt free because he could fly at such a tremendous speed, realizing that one part of his life was over. He was still alive but, only in a different form. Vincent was no longer Vincent because he no longer had his old name, and he didn't have his ancient past. Instead, he was greeted by a whole new life. His little heart was beating, and when he took a deep breath, he felt that he was alive again and felt his mother's warmth. The baby opened his little mouth and smiled. It was very dark but comfortable enough to turn slightly from side to side.

  A Clergyman's Daughter is a 1935 novel by English author George Orwell. It tells the story of Dorothy Hare, the clergyman's daughter of the title, whose life is turned upside down when she suffers an attack of amnesia. It is Orwell's most formally experimental novel, featuring a chapter written entirely in dramatic form, but he was never satisfied with it and he left instructions that after his death it was not to be reprinted. Despite these instructions, Orwell did consent to the printing of cheap editions "of any book which may bring in a few pounds for my heirs" following his death. 
    
  George Orwell, was an English novelist, essayist, journalist and critic. His work is characterized by lucid prose, biting social criticism, total opposition to totalitarianism, and outspoken support of democratic socialism. 
    
  Orwell produced literary criticism and poetry, fiction and polemical journalism. He is known for the allegorical novella Animal Farm (1945) and the dystopian novel Nineteen EightyFour (1949). His nonfiction works, including The Road to Wigan Pier (1937), documenting his experience of workingclass life in the north of England, and Homage to Catalonia (1938), an account of his experiences soldiering for the Republican faction of the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939), are as critically respected as his essays on politics and literature, language and culture. In 2008, The Times ranked George Orwell second among "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945".
