A photographic guide that “focuses on the beauty, grace and vulnerability of these herbivores, but it also covers other sea mammals and their habitats” (The Biologist).

Named a Choice Outstanding Academic Title

In this book, manatee expert John E. Reynolds III and famed photographer Wayne Lynch join forces to reveal the clearest portrait of manatees ever published. Florida Manatees is a song for the manatee, a celebration of the lives of these majestic creatures. Reynolds’s concise, informative text shares what scientists know about manatees, while Lynch’s beautiful photographs instantly demonstrate how special these “potatoes with whiskers” really are. By encouraging an appreciation of manatees, the authors hope to help ensure a future in which Floridians can find ways to coexist with and continue to enjoy these uniquely wonderful sirenian inhabitants of their state.

Included in this book:How manatees first came to Florida watersHow manatees fit into the ecosystems of FloridaWhat and how much manatees eatHow manatees behave and communicate with one anotherWhy manatees look the way they doWhy manatees have whiskersHow manatee mothers feed their young and much more

“A lovely book that sounds as though it would appeal primarily to scientists, but which offers inviting color photos and history that make it accessible to lay audiences both within Florida and outside the state.” —Donovan’s Literary Services

“This exciting saga crosses space and time to illustrate how humans, born of stardust, were shaped—and how they in turn shaped the world we know today.” —Publishers Weekly   This book offers “world history on a grand scale”—pulling back for a wider view and putting the relatively brief time span of human history in context. After all, our five thousand years of recorded civilization account for only about one millionth of the lifetime of our planet (Kirkus Reviews).  Big History interweaves different disciplines of knowledge, drawing on both the natural sciences and the human sciences, to offer an all-encompassing account of history on Earth. This new edition is more relevant than ever before, as we increasingly grapple with accelerating rates of change and, ultimately, the legacy we will bequeath to future generations. Here is a path-breaking portrait of our world, from the birth of the universe from a single point the size of an atom to life on a twenty-first-century planet inhabited by seven billion people.

In this book the theory of multiverses, ancient cultures which came from other dimensions, dimensional shifting testimonies, and a lot more are included for your review and discussion. The Multiverse was proposed long ago by the ancient Greeks. In modern times this subject has become very active among physicists. There is also some real modern evidence that the Multiverse exists. My curiosity about alternative dimensions is the result of research for my first book on ancient Ireland which recorded that the Tutha Da Dannan (forebears of the Elves and Druids) who came from “The Otherworld”.I have also collected many testimonies and stories about people who experienced dimensional shifts which appear in this book too.It is also possible that many reports of Bigfoot, Thunderbirds, Dragons, and more all also tied up in the potential reality of the Multiverse. After reading this book you may become convinced that the multiverse really exists and this would explain many of the strange events in our lives. The world we live in is a much stranger place than most of us would believe.

Astrobiology is an exciting new subject, and one, arguably, more interdisciplinary than any other. Astrobiologists seek to understand the origin and evolution of life on Earth in order to illuminate and guide the search for life on other planets. In this Very Short Introduction, David C. Catling introduces the subject through our understanding of the factors that allowed life to arise and persist on our own planet, and for the signs we are looking for in the search for extraterrestrial life.
