Sinopsis

Albert Einstein's "The Theory of Relativity" stands as a monumental work that revolutionized our understanding of space, time, and gravity. Written in a clear yet profound literary style, this book introduces the cornerstone concepts of the Special and General Theory of Relativity, challenging conventional Newtonian perspectives. Einstein seamlessly weaves complex mathematical concepts with accessible language, placing his theories within the larger framework of early 20th-century physics, where the burgeoning fields of quantum mechanics and cosmology were beginning to take shape. Einstein, revered not only as a physicist but also as a philosopher, was profoundly influenced by the scientific and intellectual currents of his time, including the works of Maxwell and Poincaré. His extensive background in theoretical physics, coupled with his personal experiences—such as grappling with the implications of electromagnetic theory—shaped the development of his revolutionary ideas. This book reflects his innovative spirit and deep curiosity about the universe, revealing insights that extend beyond the realm of physics alone. Recommended for both seasoned physicists and curious readers alike, "The Theory of Relativity" invites you to contemplate the mysteries of the cosmos and the very fabric of reality. Delve into Einstein's extraordinary vision, and discover how his groundbreaking theories continue to influence modern science and our understanding of the universe today.

In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, trust in the healthcare system seems to be at an all-time low. Conspiracy theories are now mainstream, and distrust of government health agencies is common among private citizens. Yet many of those same individuals still profess trust in their doctors. What, then, is driving the general mistrust in medicine, and how can the public's faith be restored?

The Anatomy of Deception investigates the cause behind this seeming uptick in distrust by tracing the unexpected connection between medical mistrust and the move toward far right ideology in the United States. Drawing on personal qualitative research and interviews, health writer and expert Sara Gorman challenges traditional concepts of medical mistrust and argues that the loss of institutional trust in American health care signals a larger breakdown in democracy as a whole. In six short chapters, Gorman advances the idea of medical mistrust not as a byproduct of personal or historical abuses but as a direct result of bias, miscommunication, and lack of access that has slowly eroded trust in the public health system over time. She argues that we can build back trust in medicine through investments in health equity as a first step towards healing the schisms present in modern American society.

Spirit and Science are viewed as opposing views. I have lived my life in the middle of this divide. Trained as an engineer and scientist, I was taught to trust logic, mathematics, and experimental proof.
Yet my personal experiences — from moments of prophecy to direct awareness of subtle energies — convinced me that there is more to reality than conventional science admits.
For years I tried to keep the two worlds separate: the rational and the mystical. But over time, the boundary dissolved. I realized that both perspectives describe the same universe from different vantage points.
My work, and this book in particular, is about restoring the unity that once existed between them.
The purpose of this book is not to replace science with mysticism, nor to reduce spiritual experience to chemistry or neurology. Rather, it aims to show that consciousness, energy, and matter are aspects of a single integrated system.

This Audiobook gives you a bundle of two 12 hour programs.
The programs begin after a short narration of guided imagery to prepare you for sleep.
Program One: 12 hours of the sounds of a Cascading Waterfall and the Soothing Tones of Calming Classical Music.
Program Two: 12 hours of just the sounds of a Cascading Waterfall without the classical music.
The musical tones are serene arrangements of the most-loved, composers: Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Mozart, Pachelbel, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and more.
The producer of the audiobook is an award-winning sound designer and composer. When he and his wife struggled with sleep apnea, he searched for an audio program that would help. "I mostly found cheap sound effects with repetitive, looping tones. Granted, my background makes me a little picky, but I found these programs more annoying than relaxing."
So he set out to record the best sounds he could find. The ocean waves, rain, thunder, streams and waterfalls are all original recordings.
Next, he experimented with tones. This program is the first to include arrangements of beautiful classical music. "I have produced over twenty experimental programs now and have had sleep doctors, patients, as well as my own friends and family members try them on. This current series of “Sleep Sounds" has been very well received and has been proven to be the most effective by the largest number of people."

While speaking at a memorial event in 2006, Siri Hustvedt suffered a violent seizure from the neck down. Despite her flapping arms and shaking legs, she continued to speak clearly and was able to finish her speech. It was as if she had suddenly become two people: a calm orator and a shuddering wreck. Then the seizures happened again and again. The Shaking Woman tracks Hustvedt's search for a diagnosis, one that takes her inside the thought processes of several scientific disciplines, each one of which offers a distinct perspective on her paroxysms but no ready solution. In the process, she finds herself entangled in fundamental questions: What is the relationship between brain and mind? How do we remember? What is the self?

During her investigations, Hustvedt joins a discussion group in which neurologists, psychiatrists, psychoanalysts, and brain scientists trade ideas to develop a new field: neuropsychoanalysis. She volunteers as a writing teacher for psychiatric in-patients at the Payne Whitney clinic in New York City and unearths precedents in medical history that illuminate the origins of and shifts in our theories about the mind-body problem. Hustvedt synthesizes her experience and research into a compelling mystery: Who is the shaking woman? In the end, the story she tells becomes, in the words of George Makari, "a brilliant illumination for us all."
