Sinopsis

In Jimmy McSwain's world, death is ever-present, a concept that both taunts and defines him. Now it's about to consume him. A new client has come to Finley Investigations with a strange request: stop her husband from killing himself.
But it isn't so simple a request. Nick Juneau is ill and doesn't want those around him to watch him suffer. What can a seasoned private eye like Finn Sullivan and his apprentice do for this family? Before they can confront him, Jimmy is tasked with trailing Nick, who disappears for hours at a time without explanation.
Jimmy has lots to learn about being a private investigator. The art of surveillance, finding one clue and understanding how it unlocks more pieces of an unsolvable puzzle, keeping to the job at hand. Stopping one man from doing something regretful doesn't mean he has to save the world.

It’s summer festival time in Confection, Oregon, and that means a barrage of tourists are making cash registers ring at Sweet Fiction Bookshop. But what should be bookseller Lexi’s most lucrative time of year turns disturbing when a member of the chamber of commerce suddenly dies of a heart attack. It’s not entirely unexpected—considering her family history—but it’s a different story when another chamber member dies just one week later…also, presumably, of natural causes. Something about this doesn’t read right to Lexi. And it gets more unfathomable when her friend Dash—who dated both women—stands accused of murder! With Cookie, her lovable border-collie mix, at her side and countless volumes of inspiration on her shelves, Lexi opens the book on another perplexing case. Who could have murdered two prominent townspeople without leaving even a hint of evidence on the scene? And why is an irksome-but-intriguing detective always seeming to catch her and Cookie working the case? Lexi’s Confection Rose-colored glasses come off when she learns of thorny discussions among the council members involving a string of secretive real-estate transactions. Enlisting her faithful fellow members of the Macaroon Book Club, she sets out to bind the clues together and clear Dash’s name. But if she can’t devise a clever trap for the real killer, she may soon end up with a very unhappily ever after of her own.

“The most fun you can have in the safety of a book. A rollicking good read!” Kaaron Warren, multi-award winning science fiction and horror author.
Priests from OverLondon's Church of Vengeful Acquisition are exploding. Is the cause divine retribution, ballistic undergarments or something more sinister? If only the city had a professional private investigator…
Luckily, notorious pirate—turned privateer—Captain Alex Reign, has just narrowly escaped the hang man’s noose to establish the Reign Agency in Drury Lane. She needs cash fast and will take any job, even if failure means facing an inconveniently messy end. But what's a little danger to a professional swashbuckler?
Armed with nothing but her roguish wit, her reliably unreliable crew and a rogue artificer experiencing a mortal crisis, Alex is convinced they'll have this crime solved and the reward pocketed by teatime.
To solve their first case, all they must do is survive while navigating rampaging nuns, clockwork horrors, confectionary gangsters, piratical florists, malevolent urchins, military-grade statuary, weaponized blasphemy and sexual whales.
How hard can it possibly be?
A Piratical Comic-Fantasy Whodunnit with a Tudor Twist! Read by Brendan McDonald, narrator of C.K. McDonnell's bestselling Stranger Times, winner of BFS Best Audio 2023

“Wicked and irresistible….Elmore Leonard is a literary genius.” —New York Times Book Review
Before U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens began electrifying TV viewers across America (in the hit series Justified), he “starred” in Elmore Leonard’s Riding the Rap—an explosive, twisty tale of a brazen Florida kidnap caper gone outrageously wrong. Chock full of wildly eccentric and deliciously criminal characters—including a psycho enforcer with a green thumb, a Bahamian bad man, and the beautiful, unabashedly greedy psychic Reverend Dawn—Riding the Rap dazzles with Leonard’s trademark ingenious plot turns and razor-keen dialogue. Gripping, surprising, and unforgettable, it is a crime fiction gem that any thriller writer—from past masters John D. MacDonald, Dashiell Hammett, and James M. Cain to the bestselling mystery auteurs of today—would be thrilled to call his own.

“The greatest crime writer of our time, perhaps ever!”—New York Times Book Review
When the all-time greats of mystery/noir/crime fiction are mentioned (John D. MacDonald, Dashiell Hammett, James M. Cain, Robert Parker, etc.), Elmore Leonard’s name invariably tops the list. A true Leonard classic, The Big Bounce showcases all of the Grand Master’s acclaimed skills—twisty plotting, unforgettable characters, dialogue so razor sharp it could draw blood—as he chronicles the misadventures of a larcenous young man in a Michigan resort town who’s irresistibly drawn to a dangerous femme fatale, a rich man’s plaything, and the nasty little caper they plan to pull off together—if they can somehow manage to survive each other. The acclaimed creator of Raylan (aka U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, lately of TV’s smash hit Justified), Leonard has never lost the mojo that makes him “the King Daddy of crime writers” (Seattle Times).
