Brought to you by Altrusian Grace Media and narrated by Matthew Schmitz.
Meditations is a series of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor from AD 161 to 180, recording his private notes to himself and ideas on Stoic philosophy.
Marcus Aurelius wrote the 12 books of the Meditations in Koine Greek as a source for his own guidance and self-improvement. It is possible that large portions of the work were written at Sirmium, where he spent much time planning military campaigns from 170 to 180. Some of it was written while he was positioned at Aquincum on campaign in Pannonia, because internal notes reveal that the first book was written when he was campaigning against the Quadi on the river Granova (modern-day Hron in Slovakia) and the second book was written at Carnuntum.
It is unlikely that Marcus Aurelius ever intended the writings to be published. The work has no official title, so "Meditations" is one of several titles commonly assigned to the collection. These writings take the form of quotations varying in length from one sentence to long paragraphs.

For many women, the lack of knowledge surrounding ADHD's unique presentation in their lives has led to feeling misunderstood, criticized, frustrated, and alone. Female biology is complicated, and the mainstream understanding of ADHD often simplifies a condition that isn't simple. One thing we are quickly learning about ADHD in women is that the role of emotions and emotion dysregulation have been underemphasized in the ADHD criteria. Think about it: If it's hard to control our behavior, it will, by default, be hard to control our emotional responses. And this relationship is amplified for girls, who are more susceptible to anxiety and depression than boys.Allow Me to Interrupt takes a deep dive into the most unjustifiably underrecognized ADHD symptom: emotion dysregulation. In an effort to educate, inspire, and support other women with ADHD, clinical psychologist and writer, Dr. Gilly Kahn, shares other women's and girls' ADHD stories along with her own.As women with ADHD, we are misunderstood, underappreciated, and unidentified. But it isn't too late to interrupt the status quo, correct misperceptions, and describe the very real emotional lives of girls and women with ADHD.

    Darkest Christmas - December...

December 1942 saw the bloodiest Christmas in the history of mankind. Men were killing each other in greater numbers than ever before. The Holocaust continued, and innocent civilians were murdered by the thousands throughout the evil Nazi empire, even as the perpetrators celebrated the birth of Christ.

Millions stationed in far-off lands amid the greatest conflict in human history feared this was their last Christmas in freedom, or their last Christmas alive. At the same time as the slaughter continued unabated, throughout the world there were random acts of kindness. These gestures also straddled religious barriers and sometimes included those of non-Christian faiths.

At the same time, Christmas 1942 saw the injunction of "good will to man" distorted in ugly and callous ways. In Berlin, Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels spent time with his family while still buried in feverish fantasies about the Jewish world conspiracy.

Christmas 1942 saw the entire range of man's conduct towards his fellow man, reflecting the extremes of behavior, good and bad, that World War II gave rise to. The way the holiday was marked around the world tells a deeper, more universal story of the human condition.

A top mental health writer, trauma researcher, and survivor illuminates the dual nature of loss-the science behind it and art of transforming it with a breakthrough book and truly holistic approach.

After experiencing two rare heart attacks at the age of 33-and a third a decade later, DeMarco knows trauma intimately. Trauma breaks your relationship with time by upending your expectations, fracturing your memories and identity, and destroying your innocence.

With poignant wisdom and refreshing insight DeMarco explodes traditional myths of resilience and shows what it takes to thrive through any of life's challenges. DeMarco situates meaningful challenge and loss specifically in the context of "lost innocence," and challenges common notions that we can think our way out of despair and back to a "normal" happy life when the unimaginable shatters it.

Leveraging advances in emotion science, somatic psychology, neuroscience, and trauma, Holding Onto Air brings the body and spirit into the solution, as much as the mind, and so presents a truly integrated, "whole person" approach to recovering from lost innocence and building resilience. It also makes spirit accessible for anyone of any background or belief-or no aligned belief.

More than a rudimentary map for navigating grief and loss' rocky terrain (with tired tropes and shop-worn strategies), DeMarco offers a unique and trusted guide for an arduous journey every human being will have to face-the realization of evil, pain, or mortality that occurs after a person experiences trauma.

Child labor remains one of the most pressing issues worldwide, with millions of children still engaged in work that deprives them of their childhood, education, and basic rights. Despite global efforts to end the practice, child labor persists across many parts of the world, particularly in regions where poverty, lack of education, and weak legal enforcement create an environment where children are forced to work instead of attending school.
The term "child labor" refers to the exploitation of children through any form of work that deprives them of their childhood, potential, and dignity, and that harms their physical and mental development. It is often associated with work that is dangerous, physically demanding, or otherwise unsuitable for children. These children, sometimes as young as five or six, are employed in a wide range of industries, including agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and domestic labor.
Historically, child labor was a common practice during the Industrial Revolution, where children were seen as a cheap source of labor. However, as industrialized nations implemented laws and regulations to protect children, the issue seemed to fade in many parts of the developed world. Unfortunately, this progress has not been mirrored in many developing nations, where children continue to be exploited for economic gain. Global estimates suggest that over 150 million children worldwide are engaged in child labor, with a significant portion working in hazardous conditions.
