Sinopse

Mobile App Reverse Engineering is a practical guide focused on helping cybersecurity professionals scale up their mobile security skills. With the IT world’s evolution in mobile operating systems, cybercriminals are increasingly focusing their efforts on mobile devices. This book enables you to keep up by discovering security issues through reverse engineering of mobile apps.
This book starts with the basics of reverse engineering and teaches you how to set up an isolated virtual machine environment to perform reverse engineering. You’ll then learn about modern tools such as Ghidra and Radare2 to perform reverse engineering on mobile apps as well as understand how Android and iOS apps are developed. Next, you’ll explore different ways to reverse engineer some sample mobile apps developed for this book. As you advance, you’ll learn how reverse engineering can help in penetration testing of Android and iOS apps with the help of case studies. The concluding chapters will show you how to automate the process of reverse engineering and analyzing binaries to find low-hanging security issues.
By the end of this reverse engineering book, you’ll have developed the skills you need to be able to reverse engineer Android and iOS apps and streamline the reverse engineering process with confidence.

Pilot training should be thought of as an interdisciplinary set of knowledge with a common practical application: to carry out a flight safely and successfully. This new volume in the collection promotes the dissemination of complex technical topics in the same didactic manner, through simple explanations with practical applications and examples in all cases.
We invite you to learn more about what is behind the instrument panel, and we assure you that you will find information and data that is extremely useful and applicable to operations.

"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."

This is the book that launched the scientific age. Sir Isaac Newton's Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (often simply The Principia) is arguably the single most important work in the history of science, defining the world for centuries to come.

First published in 1687, this masterpiece of classic science laid out the three laws of motion and the law of universal gravitation, explaining everything from the orbit of the planets to the trajectory of a cannonball. Newton didn't just describe the universe; he provided the mathematical tools (Calculus developed by him and Leibniz) to understand it.

In this seminal work, you will find:

Newton's Laws of Motion: The bedrock of classical physics.

Universal Gravitation: The mathematical proof for why and how objects attract each other.

The Foundation of Calculus: The analytical engine for solving problems in theoretical physics and astronomy.

A Classic of Philosophy: A monumental treatise on how the universe naturally works, governed by immutable mathematical principles.

Essential reading for students, scholars, and anyone interested in the history of science, The Principia remains a testament to human reason and one of the great intellectual achievements of Western civilization.

To date, more than a million insect species have been described, with probably at least another 5-8 million species waiting in the wings for a name. Insects are a fascinatingly diverse and beautiful spectrum of animals. They range in size from the tiny parasitic wasp, measuring a mere 139µm, to the aptly named Titan beetle, which can reach lengths of up to 17cm. They can be found on all continents of the world, from the Sahara Desert to the frozen wastes of Antarctica. While no insects live beneath the waves, the intrepid sea skaters skim the surface of some of the world's oceans.

This Very Short Introduction explores the extraordinary world of insects. It analyses insect evolution, taxonomy, and development, and describes their behavior, their life styles, and the interactions they have with other insects and other animals. As Simon Leather shows, insects are the bedrock on which human civilization rests; without them we would almost certainly not exist. Although they can be seen as pests of our crops plants, they are also invaluable for pollinating our flowering plants and are an invaluable link in all land ecosystems. As they face challenges from climate change and pesticides it has never been more important to understand these oft-dismissed creatures.

What is really happening in your brain when you use your phone, and how to harness it.

Humans are often fearful of the day the world will be ruled by machines, but have they not already taken over? The average person spends 4-5 hours a day on their phone, about a third of the time they are awake. We self-interrupt our work and social lives, forgo sleep, procrastinate important tasks and opt for digital distraction when we're bored or feel uncomfortable.

NHS neurology doctor and neuroscientist Faye Begeti describes what is happening in our brain when we use our phones and why we have formed so many fixed and negative habits around them. She reflects on both deliberate choices and automatic behaviours, whilst also challenging myths around digital 'addiction', how dopamine actually works and the harmfulness of blue light.

Rather than recommending a quick fix digital diet, or total abstinence - unviable for most people - The Phone Fix offers a practical guide, based on neuroscientific techniques, on building supportive digital habits. Technology is not inherently bad or frightening and by better understanding what is happening in our brains, we can replenish our willpower and improve our focus, forming a healthier relationship with our phones ¬- and therefore the real people around us.

It has been said that science may be divided into two categories, astronomy which covers all things outside the Earth, and geophysics which deals with everything else. The geophysicist is dedicated to the study of the earth by physical means, and the Earth as a whole is his sphere. This is perhaps the biggest difference between the geophysicist and the geologist, for present geological techniques are based only on the study of the features of the Earth which are disclosed at the very surface of it. Although this sometimes gives a clue as to conditions at some depth below the surface, it is only by physical methods such as measurement of the Earth’s gravity or magnetic fields, by the study of its thermal regime or of seismic waves that have traversed it that reliable information can be obtained about the interior of the Earth. It is at the surface that the geologists and geophysicists meet, and theories must be made to coincide. Nowhere is this common meeting ground more important than in Antarctica, for over most of the continent the ice sheet deprives the geologist of his access to the true surface of the solid earth.
