“A detailed day-by-day account of the war’s events, emphasizing the military dimensions but also touching on politics and diplomacy.” —Choice  Almanac of World War I provides reports of the action on all fronts and of the events surrounding the conflict, from the guns of August 1914 to the November 1918 Armistice and its troubled aftermath. Daily entries, topical descriptions, biographical sketches, maps, and illustrations combine to give a ready and succinct account of what was happening in each of the principal theaters of war. This definitive book on the Great War by David F. Burg and L. Edward Purcell—coauthors of The World Almanac of the American Revolution—“captures the pathos and absurdity of the conflict in a way that few others have” (American Reference Books Annual).   “Whereas most accounts of World War I zero in on the muddy trenches of the Western front, Burg and Purcell’s work puts that theater in the context of the larger war.” —Tallahassee Democrat   “There is really nothing comparable to this volume.” —Booklist   “Almanacs represent the final book(s) needed to complete a collection regarding a particular period in history. David Burg and L. Edward Purcell’s Almanac of World War I is such a book.” —BookLovers   “A useful reference for the Great War.” —Paper Wars   “This valuable reference book provides a day-by-day account of the First World War, with each entry divided geographically.” —Canadian Military History

The Book of Tea was written by Okakura Kakuzo in the early 20th century. It was first published in 1906, and has since been republished many times. - In the book, Kakuzo introduces the term Teaism and how Tea has affected nearly every aspect of Japanese culture, thought, and life. The book is noted to be accessible to Western audiences because though Kakuzo was born and raised Japanese, he was trained from a young age to speak English; and would speak it all his life, becoming proficient at communicating his thoughts in the Western Mind. In his book he elucidates such topics as Zen and Taoism, but also the secular aspects of Tea and Japanese life. The book emphasizes how Teaism taught the Japanese many things; most importantly, simplicity. Kakuzo argues that this tea-induced simplicity affected art and architecture, and he was a long-time student of the visual arts. He ends the book with a chapter on Tea Masters, and spends some time talking about Sen no Rikyu and his contribution to the Japanese Tea Ceremony.

Since the first edition of Hope with Eating Disorders was published in 2012, eating disorders have become more widely recognised and treatments have progressed, as have attitudes to this most dangerous of mental health problems. In this second edition, which maintains Lynn Crilly's warm, non-judgemental, family-friendly approach, the more recently recognised eating disorders have been included, the range of treatment options – both mainstream and alternative – has been fully reviewed and revised, and the impact of social and technological change has been fully accommodated, with the role of social media for good and ill to the fore. New case histories highlight key issues, and throughout all references to research and stats have been reviewed and updated. Men's eating disorders are now addressed by contributing author Dr Russell Delderfield. Since originally writing Hope with Eating Disorders, Lynn has experienced seven years of counselling practice and seven years of her own daughter's recovery from an eating disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder, underpinning her realistic insight into what recovery actually is and means. Hope with Eating Disorders is a practical, supportive guide for anyone helping someone with an eating disorder be they a family member, teacher, sports coach, workplace colleague or friend.
