Crystal Dawn’s mother was German, and her father was a career army man from Texas. She and her two brothers were born in army hospitals in the United States. She lived briefly in Germany as a small child before the family moved to an army base in Maryland. The family moved again while she was in elementary school and settled on a farm in Northwest Arkansas.
