  The burial practices of ancient Egypt evolved significantly over millennia, reflecting changes in religious beliefs, social structures, and technological advancements. These practices were rooted in the belief in an afterlife, where the preservation of the body and the provision of necessary items were vital. From simple pit burials to grand pyramid constructions, the evolution of Egyptian burial customs offers valuable insights into the cultural and spiritual life of the civilization. 
  In the Predynastic period, burial customs were relatively simple, consisting of shallow pits in the desert sand. The dry, arid environment naturally mummified the bodies, preserving them for millennia. These early graves often contained personal belongings, such as pottery, jewelry, and tools, indicating a belief in a life beyond death. The positioning of the bodies, typically in a fetal position, also suggests a symbolic return to the womb, possibly signifying rebirth. 
  As Egypt unified and entered the Early Dynastic period, burial practices became more elaborate. The development of mastabas marked a significant shift in tomb architecture. These rectangular structures, made of mudbrick or stone, featured underground burial chambers and an above-ground offering chapel. Mastabas were primarily used by the elite, symbolizing their status and wealth. The inclusion of false doors and serdab chambers, which housed statues of the deceased, reflected the belief that the soul could interact with the living through offerings and rituals.

  Although productive imagination has played a highly significant role in (post-) Kantian philosophy, there have been very few book-length studies explicitly dedicated to its analysis. 
  
  In his new book, Saulius Geniusas develops a phenomenology of productive imagination while relying on those resources that we come across in Edmund Husserl’s, Max Scheler’s, Martin Heidegger’s, Ernst Cassirer’s, Miki Kiyoshi’s, Jean-Paul Sartre’s, Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s, and Paul Ricoeur’s writings, while also engaging in present-day philosophical discussions of the imagination. Investigating the relation between imagination and embodiment, affectivity, perception, language, selfhood, and intersubjectivity, the book provides a phenomenological conception of productive imagination, which is committed to basic phenomenological principles and which is sensitive to how productive imagination has been conceptualized in the history of phenomenology. 
  
  Against such a background, Geniusas develops a new conception of productive imagination: It is a basic modality of intentionality that indirectly shapes the human experience of the world by forming the contours of action, intuition, knowledge, and understanding. It is not so much a blind and indispensable function of the soul, but an art concealed in the body, for it springs out of instincts, drives, desires, and needs. 
  
  The author demonstrates unexpected ways in which phenomenology of productive imagination enriches our understanding of embodied subjectivity.

  As well as the traditional dynamics of international power, torn between US-China bipolarism and the ambitions of old and new regional actors, this Report explores the other major transitions taking place. Firstly, the economic transition of a world deeper and deeper in debt and now seeing the return of state intervention. Secondly, the transition of the democracies and international law, or more precisely, their dual "crisis" in the face of contrasting models. And thirdly, the environmental and digital transitions, which will be key features of the decades to come. Intertwining inextricably with each other, these transitions will shape the major trends in regional politics and, in turn, be shaped by them. That's why Italy and Europe are facing momentous challenges, which the ISPI Report 2022 strives to outline, to equip readers with a compass for a changing world.
