Summary

At long last, Alphina Shinn Sylvana has escaped the time loop and the machinations of the evil Saint Debonaire. Upon returning to her 101st lifetime, she finally—albeit begrudgingly—accepts her impending marriage to Prince Lionett. However, before the ceremony, she meets with Prince Lionett’s secret older brother, Girne, who’d been imprisoned under the palace grounds his entire life. That was surprising enough on its own, but Girne’s revelations are even more shocking. He was trapped in a time loop, much like Alphina had been, and he predicts that a great calamity will strike the empire, destroying it! As if that wasn’t bad enough, an “unfortunate accident” causes Prince Lionett to fall into a coma. In order to save him, Alphina expends all her magic to enter the time loop again. But the world she finds herself in is a dark place vastly different from the one she was familiar with. Can she guide herself and her prince back to the world of light?

"The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde is a novel written in the late 19th century. The story explores themes of art, beauty, and morality, focusing on the life of a young man named Dorian Gray. Dorian becomes entranced by his beauty and the hedonistic philosophies of Lord Henry Wotton. At the beginning of the novel, we are introduced to Lord Henry Wotton and the artist Basil Hallward, who has painted a stunning portrait of Dorian Gray. Basil is deeply enamored with Dorian's beauty and harbors a secret affection for him. What really happened to the hat and the gloves entirely depends on who you ask.
When Marion, a once-independent wealthy woman, begins her descent into Alzheimer's, her world shrinks to a new shared home with her son and his partner. But what should be a time of familial support turns into a maelstrom of accusations and betrayal.
During a visit from Marion's sister and her husband, a beloved hat is mysteriously mutilated. This seemingly small act of destruction ignites a family firestorm, exposing long-buried tensions and testing loyalties.
As the story unfolds through multiple perspectives, readers are drawn into a web of conflicting memories, half-truths, and heartbreaking realizations. With each chapter, the lines between victim and perpetrator blur, challenging our understanding of family, trust, and the devastating effects of dementia.
Cynthia Cook's unflinching narrative forces us to confront the question: In a family torn apart by illness and suspicion, can the truth ever truly be known? And more importantly, can forgiveness find a way?
