It addresses the misconception that binge drinking is merely a college issue, revealing it as a widespread public health concern affecting people of all ages. The book explores the physiological effects, detailing how repeated episodes of binge drinking can subtly yet significantly damage the brain, liver, and cardiovascular system. It also examines the psychological dimensions, including the links between binge drinking and mental health disorders like depression and anxiety. The book takes a bio-psycho-social approach, emphasizing the interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to binge drinking behaviors. Beginning with a clear definition of binge drinking based on scientific standards, the book progresses through the physiological consequences, effects on mental health, and culminates in a review of prevention and treatment strategies. In this rare and mystical work, Manly P. Hall unveils the hidden thread of spiritual brotherhood that guides the evolution of humanity from behind the veil. The Brothers of the Shining Robe refers to the invisible order of Initiates, Sages, and Adepts who, throughout the ages, have silently labored for the advancement of truth, beauty, and enlightenment on Earth.
Through poetic symbolism and philosophical insight, Hall traces the legacy of these hidden guardians—from ancient Egypt and Greece to the esoteric schools of the East and the secret societies of the modern West. He explores their doctrines, their sacred duty to the soul of the world, and their constant battle against ignorance and materialism.
More than a history, this book is a spiritual call to remembrance: that there are still those who wear the shining robe—not of cloth, but of light—and who work for the regeneration of the human spirit. Their presence is known not by words, but by their silent wisdom and unwavering service.

Lying in the middle of a plain in modern day Iran is a forgotten ancient city: Persepolis. Built two and a half thousand years ago, it was known in its day as the richest city under the sun. Persepolis was the capital of Achaemenid Persian Empire, the largest empire the world had ever seen, but after its destruction, it was largely forgotten for nearly 2,000 years, and the lives and achievements of those who built it were almost entirely erased from history. Alexander the Great’s troops razed the city to the ground in a drunken riot to celebrate the conquest of the capital, after which time and sand buried it for centuries.
The Parthian people created an empire that lasted almost 500 years, from the mid-3rd century BCE until 224 CE, and it stretched from the Euphrates River in the west to Central Asia and the borders of Bactria in the east. In fact, the expansive empire challenged the Romans on numerous occasions for supremacy in the Near East.
During the first half of the 1st millennium CE, an empire arose in Persia that extended its power and influence to Mesopotamia in the east, Arabia in the south, the Caucasus Mountains in the north, and as far east as India. This empire, known alternatively as the Sasanian Empire or Sassanid Empire, was the last of three great dynasties in Persia—the Achaemenid and the Parthian being the first two dynasties—before the rise of Islam.
Amid the upheaval in the Islamic world following Muhammad’s death, the Umayyad Caliphate lasted for less than a century, but in that time it managed to become one of the most influential of the major caliphates established following him. 	The Umayyads would be replaced by the far more intelligent and crafty Abbasids, who managed to wield powerful tools like propaganda to undermine their opponents, but eventually, the Ottomans would consolidate control of the area for nearly 500 years.

"Wilson does a great service in resurrecting one of O'Connor's lesser-known works."--Publishers Weekly

When celebrated American novelist and short story writer Flannery O'Connor died at the age of thirty-nine in 1964, she left behind an unfinished third novel titled Why Do the Heathen Rage? Scholarly experts uncovered and studied the material, deeming it unpublishable. It stayed that way for more than fifty years.

    Until now.

For the past ten-plus years, award-winning author Jessica Hooten Wilson has explored the 378 pages of typed and handwritten material of the novel--transcribing pages, organizing them into scenes, and compiling everything to provide a glimpse into what O'Connor might have planned to publish.

This book is the result of Hooten Wilson's work. In it, she introduces O'Connor's novel to the public for the first time and imagines themes and directions O'Connor's work might have taken. Including illustrations and an afterword from noted artist Steve Prince (One Fish Studio), the book unveils scenes that are both funny and thought-provoking, ultimately revealing that we have much to learn from what O'Connor left behind.
