Summary

Dill Steel-Link has always played heroes on stage, but he never wanted to be one. A veteran of the Holy Wars waged between the Terean Empire and the Titans, he finds himself flung into an even fiercer conflict. The otherworldly Reincarnators, wielding supernatural Skills, possessed the bodies of the dead and brought carnage to the land of Redguard.Five years later, Dill still seeks the body of his daughter, Iris, a victim of the Reincarnators. Accompanying him are Nue Kirisaki, an orphan girl with much more to her than meets the eye, and Sid Faron, the lone survivor of a Reincarnator massacre whose own father became one of the enemy. As Dill and the children make their way back to the great city of Vulcan, they must fight through waves of immortal Reincarnators and the mysterious conspiracy that surrounds them. Dill’s objectives, however, will not change. He has only two goals—to get back his daughter’s body, and execute any Reincarnator who stands in his way.

The 13th Spaceborne Assault Team battles for their survival on a faraway planet in this classic first entry in a science fiction military action trilogy.

Three thousand years ago, humanity expanded its presence by settling hundreds of worlds across the galaxy. Yet even as technology allowed them to boldly travel light years, the nature of humanity changed very little. Over time, countless regimes and governments rose and fell in a quest for power. In the end, only two remained—the industrial dictatorship of the Schlinal Hegemony, and the feudal-based Dogel Worlds. The last independent worlds of the Terran Cluster finally united as the Accord of Free Worlds—and fought back against the conquerors as no one had before.

    So, the war continues . . .

When the Schlinal Hegemony goes on the offensive, the Accord decides to send their forces to several other planets to disperse the Hegemony forces. The planet Porter is where Sgt. Joe Baerclau and his 13th Spaceborne Assault Team are deployed. Unfortunately, what begins as a holding action soon becomes a brutal battle against a relentless foe. And it soon becomes clear that the Lucky 13th only has three options left: keep the enemy at bay until backup arrives, hope the enemy decides to quit the fight in frustration, or be buried on Porter . . .

A mind-blowing cosmic adventure from the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of the Adventures of Pip & Flinx.

It's just another boring late night in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for Seeth, a disillusioned punk rocker with too much time on his hands and too little money. That is, until he heads to a bowling alley and runs into Kerwin, a geeky graduate student who's there doing research for a sociology assignment. While trying to distract Kerwin from his scholarly pursuits, Seeth notices two burly cops trying to unlawfully arrest a lone bowler, and for laughs, he jumps in to save him.

When it turns out the bowler, the cops, and even the bowling ball are all different races of aliens involved in an interstellar chase, Seeth and Kerwin find themselves on a ship careening through space—protecting a mysterious, all-powerful lifeform that might possibly be the most valuable thing in the universe.

Seeth's found the excitement he wanted. And he didn't even have to leave Albuquerque—just Earth.
