Did you know chamomile interacts with the nervous system to ease tension? Or that cognitive restructuring can challenge negative thought patterns? This book navigates the historical context of herbal remedies while grounding its recommendations in current scientific research. It progresses from introducing the fundamentals of anxiety and the science behind chamomile to providing step-by-step guidance on incorporating psychological techniques into daily life. The approach emphasizes empowering readers with accessible, evidence-based methods to promote relaxation and well-being. The aim is to provide a sustainable path towards stress reduction and emotional well-being. It includes sections on chamomile therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, and mindfulness exercises. Lenin's work and influence have often been written off as no longer relevant, and many today consider this to be so. Lenin has, they claim, had his day, even though he is still revered in China, the world's most populous country. However, Lenin, like his mentor Marx, has had a tendency to rise from apparent decline and oblivion to renewed force and influence.

This study examines the key elements of Lenin's life and career, the consolidation of his ideas into the doctrines of "Leninism," the influence of Leninism in promoting revolutionary movements around the globe, and the currently disputed issue of whether his ideas still have any relevance today. In particular, while considering his views on the role of the revolutionary party, often seen as the centerpiece of his theory and practice, this account identifies the root of Lenin's global influence in his opposition to capitalist imperialism and as a bedrock foundation for the opposition of many to fascism and associated ideologies. While recognizing that Lenin's reputation has reached its lowest point, not least in his home country where his legacy is reviled by Vladimir Putin and other contemporary leaders, the book concludes by weighing up the contemporary arguments of those who believe that Lenin still lives.

The fur trade had its tensions, but for many years, traders and natives worked out their own systems, times, and traditions, allowing many different groups to interact and even compete without issues that led to war. Though native groups sometimes found themselves in conflicts based on long-standing rivalries or relations with the Europeans, most of the fur traders, the trappers, the Indians, and Hudson’s Bay Company officials lived peaceably. The great amount of distance from one another in this land of millions of miles likely helped to alleviate tensions. When a new vision for the Hudson’s Bay Company came about, one where settlers, not itinerants, would be responsible for the colony, the rules changed.
In 1810, through the Pacific Fur Company, John Jacob Astor began to direct his energies at the still mostly unexploited regions accessible from the mouth of the Columbia River. This was, of course, in open defiance of British claims, but that was very much in keeping with Astor’s style. Astor put up the money, and a group of American and Canadian fur traders would manage affairs on the ground, traveling to the region to erect Fort Astoria and a string of trading posts in the region that could deal with the natives, trade with Asia and the East Coast, and amass untold riches. Or at least that was the plan.
Fort Astoria wouldn’t last a decade, and its turbulent history was so full of unfortunate twists and turns, a mixture of bad luck and incompetence, that the story still fascinates people today. And among all the chapters of that short history, none are as interesting as the fateful Battle of Woody Point, a misnomer for a confrontation that was brought about by misunderstandings, arrogance, and misplaced pride. The episode, despite its brevity and its occurrence in the furthest reaches of North America at the time, would color relations between whites and natives in the Pacific Northwest for decades.

Writing takes many forms, whether it’s a letter, diary, blog, article, story, play, poem or novel. I will confess my writing leans in favor of fiction.

Globally famous and yet universally misunderstood – these are the complex and utterly engrossing stories of Britain's royal women behind the public façade.Saints or sinners? Perfect princesses or difficult duchesses? Monarchy’s saviours or its destroyers?
They rank among the world’s most famous women – and the most misunderstood. Throughout history, royal women have been sanitised and sanctified by supporters, distorted and demonised by critics, pitted against each other, and misrepresented by the media.
In this extraordinary portrait, journalist Catherine Mayer examines the lives of the central players, and the echoes and parallels that have run throughout history. The stories of Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth I, Victoria, Elizabeth II, Diana, Camilla, Kate and Meghan uncovered by Catherine Mayer are far more fascinating, poignant, surprising and enraging than any of the myths. Divide and Rule reveals these extraordinary women in all their complexity, charting their achievements, quirks, kindnesses, cruelties and profound influence.
Drawing on key sources, many of whom have never spoken publicly before, this book also demonstrates the ways in which history repeats itself – to the detriment not only of royal women but all of us.
For fans of Robert Hardman (Charles III), Angela Levin (Diana’s Babies), Robert Jobson (William at 40), and Tina Brown (The Diana Chronicles).

This book is the essential companion for those who wish to learn about and visit the Inner Hebridean islands of Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna, known collectively as the Small Isles.
As well as focusing on history, archaeology and landscape change from earliest times to the present day, it is a fascinating account of the people who have lived there – their subsistence, legends and superstitions, interactions and the ways in which they exploited the land and the sea.
It takes the reader through prehistoric landscapes and Iron Age forts into the Age of the Saints and the incoming Vikings. The islands are rich in monastic tradition and rife with the clan feuding of the Middle Ages. Contemporary descriptions help explore population change, townships, the boom and bust of the kelp industry and the devastation brought about by the Clearances before the late 19th century, when wealthy aristocrats created great sporting estates.
