Synopsis

Lithuanian vocabulary book + Lithuanian dictionaryThis Lithuanian vocabulary book contains more than 3000 words and phrases which are grouped by topic to make it easier for you to pick what to learn first. On top of that, the index in the second half of the book provides you with a basic Lithuanian-English as well as English-Lithuanian dictionary which makes this a great resource for learners of all levels.

What you can expect from this book:This Lithuanian learning resource is a combination of Lithuanian vocabulary book and a two-way basic Lithuanian dictionary:Part 1 - Topic based Lithuanian vocabulary book: This is the main part of the book and represents a list of chapters each containing Lithuanian vocabularies for a certain topic. The Lithuanian vocabularies in the chapters are unsorted on purpose to separate remembering them from a defined alphabetical order. You can start at any chapter and dive directly into the topics that interest you the most.Part 2 - Basic English-Lithuanian dictionary: The index in the second half of the book can be used as a basic Lithuanian dictionary to look up words you have learned but can't remember or learn new words you need.Part 3 - Basic Lithuanian-English dictionary: Easy to use and with just the right amount of words, this third part finishes off with a second index that allows you to look for Lithuanian words and directly find the English translation

How to use this Lithuanian vocabulary book:Not sure where to start? We suggest you first work your way through the verbs, adjectives and phrases chapters in part one of the book. This will give you a great base for further studying and already enough vocabulary for basic communication. The Lithuanian dictionaries in part two and three can be used whenever needed to look up words you hear on the street, English words you want to know the Lithuanian translation for or simply to learn some new words.

Some final thoughts:Vocabulary books have been around for centuries and as with so many things that have been around for some time, they are not very fashionable and a bit boring, but they usually work very well. Together with the basic Lithuanian dictionary parts, this vocabulary book is a great resource to support you throughout the process of learning Lithuanian and comes in particularly handy at times when there is no internet to look up words and phrases.

“The best book on writing ever published” (Patricia T. O’Conner, author of Woe Is I).   When Robert Graves and Alan Hodge decided to collaborate on this manual for writers, the world was in total upheaval. Graves had fled Majorca three years earlier at the start of the Spanish Civil War, and as they labored over their new project, they witnessed the fall of France and the evacuation of Allied forces at Dunkirk. Soon the horror of World War II would reach British soil as well, as the Luftwaffe began bombing London in an effort to destroy the resolve of the English people.   Graves and Hodge believed that at a time when their whole world was falling apart, the survival of English prose sentences—of writing that was clear, concise, and intelligible—had become paramount if hope were going to outlive the onslaught. They came up with forty-one principles for writing, the majority devoted to clarity, the remainder to grace of expression. They studied the prose of a wide range of noted authors and leaders, finding much room for improvement. Successful communication could mean the difference between war and peace, life and death, and they were determined to contribute to its survival. The importance of good writing continues today, as obfuscation, propaganda, manipulative language, and sloppy standards are all too common—and this classic guide is just as useful and important as ever.  Note: This edition restores the full, original 1943 text.   “To see what really expert mavens can do in applying their rule-based expertise to clearing up bad prose, get hold of a copy of The Reader Over Your Shoulder.” —The Atlantic

This book consists of the following titles:
    - Ludwig Wittgenstein: Ludwig Wittgenstein, one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century, profoundly shaped modern thought, particularly in the realms of language, logic, and the philosophy of mind. His philosophy spans two distinct periods, marked by an evolution in his views on the relationship between language, meaning, and reality. Wittgenstein’s work challenges the way we think about and use language, positing that philosophical problems often arise from misunderstandings of language and its limitations.
    - Martha Nussbaum: Martha Nussbaum is one of the most influential philosophers of our time, particularly known for her contributions to feminist theory, political philosophy, and ethics. A professor at the University of Chicago, her work spans a wide array of topics including justice, human capabilities, human rights, and the role of emotions in moral decision-making. Nussbaum’s ideas have significantly impacted both academic philosophy and practical policy, with her innovative theories offering valuable insights into the intersection of ethics, politics, and human development.
    - Bertrand Russell: Bertrand Russell, born on May 18, 1872, in Trellech, Monmouthshire, Wales, was a British philosopher, logician, mathematician, and social critic. Coming from a prominent aristocratic family, with his grandfather, Lord John Russell, having served as a British Prime Minister, Russell had an influential upbringing. He attended Cambridge University, where he studied under Alfred North Whitehead, a notable logician and philosopher. Russell was deeply influenced by the works of Gottlob Frege and David Hilbert.
