Beschreibung

This book follows a series of "conversations" with these tools, mainly with "chatGPT 4.0" but also with "Bard". It's well known that chatGPT is hampered in its research up to a certain point in time and, because they are language modeling tools, they end up inventing... a lot, especially in bibliographic references. However, accessory tools are emerging that make it possible to improve and even correct this situation, tools that will certainly become much more powerful in the future, but which are already a reality. So, using all these AI tools, a book has been created that aims to be a pedagogical tool that answers a series of questions that can be asked by secondary and higher education students, or even people who are just interested in these issues, but who don't have the access or predisposition to use these types of AI tools.

This book focuses on saving creatures and plants that are especially vulnerable but that can be successfully helped by our efforts, such as bees, frogs, butterflies, birds, trees, and wildflowers. Each project meets four crucial criteria: (1) it will make a significant difference to the survival of the species, (2) has a high likelihood of success, (3) is easy to implement, and (4) is family-friendly.

The book raises awareness of endangered species that readers can help by undertaking projects unique to their bioregion. Examples include building an amphibian house for salamanders, raising tadpoles, creating nesting sites for bees, and much more. Saving Nature One Yard at a Time is an inspirational and practical compendium that will give listeners the knowledge and tools they need to take an active role in nurturing the world around us, no matter we live.

In the spirit of medieval writer Chaucer, all human activity lies within the artist’s scope, the History of Man Series uses medicine as a jumping off point to explore precisely that, all history, all science, all human activity since the beginning of time. The jumping off style of writing takes the reader, the listener into worlds unknown, always returning to base, only to jump off again. History of Man are stories and tales of nearly everything.
The Fourth History of Man continues with virus infections where The Third History of Man left off hashing-out those specks of genetic schmutz, covering the R-naught of those naughty infectious scoundrels. Some big hitters will be considered, from polio and the famous celebrities that had it, through fifty shades of hepatitis, rabies and the hair of the dog, and the monkey business of HIV and AIDS. Leaving viruses, we’ll delve into a study of parasites, including the parasite of all parasites, Sigourney Weaver’s alien. Opening up a can-of-worms we’ll launch a nerd rumble: who would win between Weaver’s Alien and Schwarzenegger’s Predator. Other topics include the sociology of a social death preceding the actual death, the sociology of sexual cannibalism, and the sociology of colors, not just of yellow fever, but of other emotions under the rainbow, hopefully not making you feel positively blue. On the science side we’ll flip the script on the infamous Krebs cycle fleeced of the boring jargon that usually flows from the lecture hall and our road will scrutinize nuclear bombs, nuclear footballs and weapons of mass destruction, the secret of Ondine’s curse, and lessons in global warming.

Described by Jeffrey Masson as "the single best introduction to animal rights ever written, Tom Regan's EMPTY CAGES stands as an essential guide to the ongoing animal rights debate. In a style at once simple and elegant, Regan dispels the negative image of animal rights advocates as portrayed by the mass media, unmasks the fraudulent rhetoric of "humane treatment" favored by animal exploiters in both familiar and less well-documented contexts, and explains why existing laws function to legitimize institutional cruelty. In so doing, Regan invites readers to join the struggle for animal rights—one person at a time, one step at a time. Written by the leading philosophical spokesperson for animal rights, Tom Regan's shocking exposé of animal abuse makes an essential and lasting contribution to how animal rights is viewed in the United States and around the world.
"Tom Regan delivers a searing indictment of the way we treat animals in the world we have made for ourselves, and presents a trenchant case that animals have or should have rights in the same way that human beings have."—J. M. Coetzee, winner of the 2003 Nobel Prize for Literature
"Every so often a book is written that is destined to change the way people think. Tom Regan has written just such a book. EMPTY CAGES is compelling because it is logical, rational, and written in an elegantly simple style. Please buy this book, read it, and tell your friends about it. Everyone needs a copy on their bookshelf."—Jane Goodall
"Tom Regan's EMPTY CAGES is a powerful call for justice on one of the most urgent issues human society faces. Calmly, lucidly, he asks readers to confront the miserable conditions we have inflicted on animals, leaving us with three choices: find a flaw in the argument, work for change, or throw the book away and try to forget it. The indelible force of Regan's argument makes the third course very difficult."—Martha C. Nussbaum, University of Chicago
