By day, Jimmie Dale is a wealthy New York socialite with every privilege at his fingertips. By night, he becomes The Gray Seal—a daring, enigmatic figure who leaves behind a telltale gray diamond-shaped seal at the scene of each break-in. But unlike ordinary criminals, the Gray Seal’s exploits are driven by a higher purpose: exposing corruption, protecting the innocent, and dismantling the city’s underworld from within.
As Dale walks the razor’s edge between high society and the criminal underworld, he faces ruthless gang leaders, shadowy masterminds, and the ever-present risk of discovery. With his quick wit, masterful disguises, and fearless heart, he wages a thrilling battle for justice, one secret mission at a time.
First published in 1917, The Adventures of Jimmie Dale introduced readers to one of crime fiction’s earliest masked heroes, a character who would inspire generations of pulp, noir, and even modern superheroes. Fast-paced and full of intrigue, it remains a classic of early twentieth-century adventure literature.
