Synopsis

An unforgettable story of a little girl growing up in the exhilarating time after the big Alaska gold rushes.Winner of the Scott O'Dell Award for Historical FictionBo's family is not the usual, ordinary sort of family, because she didn't get it in the usual, ordinary way.She was headed for a lonely Alaska orphanage when she won the hearts of two tough gold miners who set out to raise her, enthusiastically helped by the other miners, the good-time girls, and all the kind people of the nearby Eskimo village on the Koyukuk River.Bo learns Eskimo along with English, is involved in the lives of her friends at Ballard Creek ,helps in the cookshack, learns to polka, rides along with Big Annie and her dog team. And there's always some kind of excitement : a bi-plane landing, the first bulldozer, a roaming bear, the dog-team mail delivery, and a lost little boy whose father has died on the winter trail.“A warm tale set in an Alaskan gold-mining town. . . . Bo is an enduring Pollyana in a parka.” —Kirkus ReviewsIllustrations by LeUyen Pham

    THE ENCHANTED GROVE OF LUMINA
Book 5 of 6 The Shadowed Shard
Following on from Book 4– The Shattered Prism this story is summarized as follows:
Lyra and her companions face a new threat as the grove’s balance falters. A missing shard of the Prism, stolen by Malachar’s lingering influence, draws them to the treacherous Shadowed Vale, a realm of shifting light and darkness. There, they confront haunting visions and a shadowy guardian, testing their resolve. After reclaiming the shard, they battle Malachar, who seeks to unleash chaos. Though they temporarily banish him, his shadow lingers, and the Prism remains incomplete. As strange disturbances plague the grove, Lyra vows to protect it, knowing the battle for balance is far from over.
This is the fifth of six audiobooks in the series, the last will become available in the very near future and I do hope you enjoy this fifth instalment, and it's only $3, all subsequent will remain at that price as I would not like price to be a barrier to your enjoyment.
I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, harp, violin, glockenspiel in a classical but uplifting form. The closing music ends the tale on a more restrained note and at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments but more dreamy and ethereal effect.
The story itself runs to about 11 1/2 minutes and is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you and your family, if applicable, enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!

Asteroid of the Damned by Frederik Pohl - Somewhere on that asteroid of sin lurked the crime king of the Universe.
"Sorry, son," MacCauley said with the barrel-scrapings of his patience. "I said no and I meant it. I haven't got anything to give you. Now please stop waggling at me and go."
The excited glitter of the Palladian's luminiferous eyes died dispiritedly. MacCauley turned his back on the slight-bodied asterite and rapped his thumbnail against his drained glass. The bartender, a heavy and humorous man, expertly refilled Mac's glass with oily, musky, milk-white synthetic liquor and said: "This Kiddie bothering you? Scat, you, or I'll see that you never get into this place again."
Mac shrugged as he watched the stripling strain to catch the bartender's meaning by reading his lips, then mournfully disappear. "No more than they all do," he answered. "What's the matter with them, anyhow? They're positively nutty on the subject of money."
The bartender shook his head and snatched a quick drag on a smoldering cigar-stub. Replacing it on a ledge, he said: "Not money so much. You couldn't bribe a Kiddie with a certified check for a couple of billion dollars. They're not bright, exactly; they don't regard paper as worth anything. It's metal they want. If it happens to be precious, that's all right, but any kind of metal will do. What they're really crazy about, of course, is silver and copper. They'll do just about anything for it, including murder and treason."
Mac, listening too intently, gulped a bit more of his drink than even his spaceman's gullet could take. When the red-hot lava stopped strangling him and he could see once more through the streaming fountains that had been his eyes, he managed to choke out: "What do they want it for? Do they eat it?"
