Synopsis

Warning: Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll!
Fearless young photographer Maddy Garfield shoots love-ins and police riots in the turbulent 1960s and deals with bikers, rock stars, arrogant diplomats, egotistical actors, and enigmatic Rastas in the '70s. But every time she encounters charismatic director Jake Morgenstern, who gave her a mind-blowing first kiss, her unfulfilled desire for him grows, fueling her fantasies. Will her path lead back to her first love?
‘Lenswoman in Love’ provides an insider’s view of the most colorful and creative decades of the twentieth century. It will resonate deeply with those who experienced those vibrant times—and anyone who wishes they had.
‘… the Sixties and Seventies, from the West Coast to Swinging London—seen through the eyes of a passionate and talented young photographer. Her camera takes her inside recording studios and onto film sets, and her heart takes her on a journey of soulful self-discovery. Read on!’— STEVEN REA, author of ‘The Hollywood Book Club’

    THE SUTHERLAND SCANDALS 1890
The story opens in Newcastle, Northern England, and we meet J.B. Sutherland—brewer and eventually the owner of the Victorian pub by the River Tyne, The Barley Mow. The family saga is told by his middle daughter, Elizabeth, whose childhood is wonderful until her father suddenly dies, and their eldest illegitimate brother, John Thomas, shows up at their father's funeral to inherit the pub.
Elizabeth is an artistic soul, often at odds with her overpowering older sisters, and she loathes her oldest brother, who takes over the pub by gambling away the profits (Scandal 1). They lose their livelihood and home; the pub must close.
Elizabeth manages to find jobs to keep food on the table, first helping an elderly lady, then with the suffragist movement, designing their posters and promoting their cause. During this time she meets the love of her life: a marine fitter, Percy Neil-Gregory (Scandal 2 according to her sisters, who believe she is marrying beneath her), who, like her, has a dark secret in his family. She married Percy after a long friendship, despite her sisters' disapproval.
During the start of the 19th century, to give her family security, Elizabeth continued to work even when she had her first child, Alice Neil-Gregory. Percy, without discussing it with her, sailed to the USA with her youngest brother, Benjamin, to try and make his fortune (Scandal 3).
With her husband away, she finds herself pregnant for the second time. After many long months of pleading, on the day of her baby Marjorie's birthday, Percy returned from the USA. They move to Yorkshire with their family for a better job; with her saved inheritance from her share of the pub, they are able to buy a small house in Hull. As Elizabeth's daughters grow up, they become skilled in music and drama, and Elizabeth keeps working to pay for their classes. Alice becomes a soubrette on the stages of theatres, and Marjorie, the family seamstress, sews and designs costumes.

"What I want you to do, Isabella, is find out what his real name is..."Those were the words spoken to me when I sat down to learn about my final grade in college. They not only shocked me, but changed the trajectory of my life. Shadows Sampson has always been bigger than life on the campus of our college. Most of the time it seems as if he's older than the rest of us. Like he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. When I get close? I find out there's more to it than I ever bargained for.And when the truth comes out; against my will - I hope I can get the forgiveness I so desperately want."You've gotta win this fight. We can't push rent back again..."Those words from my sister's mouth put an exclamation point on how bad our situation is. Especially after I lost the fight of my life. The one that was going to get us out of this apartment building, the one that was going to put us on a path we'd only dreamed about. But me? I'd lost the fight, my confidence, and the motivation for the life I'd always wanted. Until a baby I'd fathered was left at my doorstep, and a seriously hot girl from my college started paying attention to me. With that girl? I fall hard, only to find out I'm the subject of a story for her final grade.Turns out, that's my motivation. Quitting isn't an option. Not until my knuckles are bloody and not one person stands in the way of what I want.
