Synopsis

In "The Boy Scouts on Belgian Battlefields," John Henry Goldfrap artfully intertwines adventure and patriotism in a compelling narrative set against the backdrop of World War I. The novel follows a group of Boy Scouts as they navigate the perils of war-torn Belgium, showcasing their bravery, resourcefulness, and unwavering spirit. Goldfrap's literary style masterfully combines vivid descriptions with a straightforward, engaging prose that captures the innocence of youth while confronting the harsh realities of conflict. The book stands as a testament to the ideals of camaraderie and heroism prevalent in early 20th-century literature, mirroring the zeitgeist of a nation grappling with the realities of global warfare. John Henry Goldfrap, an author whose early life was marked by a passion for adventure and service, was motivated to write this book during a time of national strife. With a background that likely involved outdoor pursuits and a strong sense of duty, Goldfrap sought to portray the Boy Scouts not merely as children but as capable agents of courage and resilience, embodying the spirit of a generation facing unprecedented challenges. I highly recommend "The Boy Scouts on Belgian Battlefields" to readers of all ages, especially those interested in historical fiction that melds adventure with moral themes. Goldfrap'Äôs work not only entertains but also educates, providing a lens into the significant role of youth during wartime and encouraging a sense of duty and bravery in the face of adversity.

Hurricane Michael may have taken away some of the landmarks, but this book reveals the history of Florida's Mexico Beach, once known as the "Unforgettable Coast."

As French interests in the Americas dwindled, records indicate very little activity around Mexico Beach until rumors of buried riches and sunken ships brought treasure hunters to the coast. In the early 1900s, businessman Felix du Pont purchased the land known today as Mexico Beach. Resin to make turpentine was harvested from the native pine trees, and fishermen could not resist the migratory fish passing through the area's waters. By the 1930s, United States Highway 98 was completed, and visitors could finally reach the sugar-soft sand beaches of the "Unforgettable Coast." By 1941, Tyndall Field was constructed and became a training site for Air Force pilots. In 1946, a group of farsighted businessmen, led by Gordan Parker, W.T. McGowan, and J.W. Wainwright, purchased 1,850 acres along the beach for $65,000. Parker's son Charlie moved to the area in 1949 with his wife, Inky, and their family. He soon took over development responsibilities for the Mexico Beach Corporation and laid the groundwork for the beach town known and loved today. Charlie went on to become the city's first mayor and a lifelong advocate of the family-friendly community.

    * "Attachment is the strongest block to realization."* "Love is the strongest medicine."* "All action is prayer."* "Whoever works for God, his work will be done by itself."* "Keep God in your heart like you keep money in the bank."NEEM KAROLI BABA GURU FOR THE AGESNeem Karoli Baba known to his followers as Maharaj-ji - was a great Hindu guru, mystic, and devotee of Lord Hanuman. He is very well known outside India for being the spiritual master of a number of prominent Americans who traveled to India in the 1960s and 70s, including spiritual teachers Ram Dass, Bhagavan Das, and musicians Krishna Das and Jai Uttal. His ashrams are in India, and in Taos, New Mexico. Maharaji was a lifelong adept of bhakti-yoga, and encouraged service to others (seva) as the highest form of unconditional devotion to God.There can be no biography of him. Facts are few, stories many. He seems to have been known by different names in many parts of India, appearing and disappearing through the years. His non-Indian devotees of recent years knew him as Neem Karoli Baba, but mostly as “Maharajji” – a nickname so commonplace in India that one can often hear a tea vendor addressed thus. Just as he said, he was "nobody". He gave no discourses; the briefest, simplest stories were his teachings. Usually, he sat or lay on a wooden bench wrapped in a plaid blanket while a few devotees sat around him. Visitors came and went; they were given food, a few words, a nod, a pat on the head or back, and they were sent away. There was gossip and laughter for he loved to joke. Orders for running the ashram were given, usually in a piercing yell across the compound. Sometimes he sat in silence, absorbed in another world to which we could not follow, but bliss and peace poured down on us. Who he was was no more than the experience of him. Here are his sublime life and teachings.SPECIAL GUEST RAM DAS

Poul Anderson himself has put together a retrospective collection of his recent writings, fiction and nonfiction, under the title All One Universe. This is the first major Poul Anderson collection in a decade. It encompasses all his strengths as a teller of tales and, in addition, provides a running commentary in the story notes and in the essays on other literary figures such as Rudyard Kipling, Johannes B. Jensen, and John W. Campbell, Jr., commentary that illuminates the fiction, gives personal insight into the mind of this fine writer, and provides a unifying personality for All One Universe. All One Universe, then, represents the new best of Poul Anderson. It is a rich, varied selection of quintessential science fiction as well as four essays, mostly from recent years, by one of the great science fiction writers of the century. His stories are filled with roaring energy, the soul of poetry, and dark imaginings.

Conspiracy theories, and particularly the belief that elements of the world are secretly controlled by individuals or groups, have been around for as long as people have lived in groups. Perhaps that’s inevitable - after all, those who are excluded from power are very likely to be inclined to see their position not as an outcome of their own choices or situation but because of the secret machinations of shadowy groups.
When members of a secret society are some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world, it’s easy to see why rumors persist about the group, and among such secret societies, few have engendered interest quit like Skull and Bones, an undergraduate senior society at Yale University. Its members have included American presidents and the CEOs of some of the largest companies in the world, but the group’s secrecy has maintained itself to the extent that some of the membership is virtually all anyone knows for certain, leaving most of what is found in books and websites speculation and unproven legend. Is there any truth to the suggestion that this society is linked to the 18th century Illuminati? Is it a mafia-like organization that intends to see the creation of a New World Order? Why, during its almost 200-year history, has no member of this group ever talked publicly about what it involves? Have those who attempted to reveal more really been subject to intimidation, threats of violence, and even murder? Is the skull of the legendary Geronimo really kept within the group’s secret lair?
Writing about any secret society is difficult, and writing about a group that has maintained absolute privacy for a long time is even more difficult.
