Suddenly it’s over, and in the center of the ring, one man is victorious. The referee raises his hand, and from somewhere (you’re not quite sure where because you’re still cheering), the shining symbol of this momentous win appears. With the crowd still roaring, the winner stands alone in the ring and raises the championship belt high over his head. The lights shine off the WWE Championship title belt, and in that instant, the winner’s life will be changed forever. For over half a century, Superstars have battled to win the WWE Championship. While the name may have changed, the prestige attached to the championship has exploded. That is due in no small part to the immortals of wrestling who have held this coveted title—Bruno Sammartino taking the title from the first holder, Buddy Rogers...the totally unexpected win of “Superstar” Billy Graham...Hulk Hogan’s win over the Iron Sheik, who had refused a payoff to injure Hogan...Andre the Giant’s surrender of the title to Ted DiBiase...the newcomer win of the Undertaker...the commanding wrestling abilities of Bret Hart...Shawn Michaels’s win in Montreal...the stunning victories of Stone Cold Steve Austin...the triumph of the People’s Champion, The Rock...Triple H playing the game...the never-surrender attitude of John Cena. This is the chronicle of how the title that is now known as the WWE Championship became sports-entertainment’s most coveted prize.

Manchester United is acknowledged as the biggest club in the world with the largest number of fans, one of the best known stadiums in Old Trafford, and a roster of legendary players that includes four of the greatest of all time in George Best, Sir Bobby Charlton, Denis Law and Cristiano Ronaldo. It also had the greatest British manager of all time in Sir Alex Ferguson whose tally of 38 trophies included 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League crowns. This fully-illustrated A to Z includes all the great players from Duncan Edwards and the Busby Babes through to Ryan Giggs, the club's longest serving player, and Wayne Rooney, the all-time leading scorer and the only player to have scored 253 goals for the Reds. The book also recalls the tragedy of the Munich air disaster in which 23 people lost their lives including eight first team players and the triumphs of the club's first European Cup win at Wembley in 1968 and the Treble of 1999 in which they won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions' League.

In 1987, Joe Parkin was an amateur bike racer in California when he ran into Bob Roll, a pro on the powerhouse Team 7-Eleven. "Lobotomy Bob" told Parkin that, to become a pro, he must go to Belgium. Riding along a canal in Belgium years later, Roll encountered Parkin, who he saw as "a wraith, an avenging angel of misery, a twelve-toothed assassin". Roll barely recognized him. Belgium had forged Parkin into a pro bike racer, and changed him forever. A Dog in a Hat is Joe's remarkable story. Leaving California with a bag of clothes, two spare wheels, some cash, and a phone number, Parkin left the comforts of home for the windy, rainswept heartland of European cycling. As one of the first American pros in Europe, Parkin was what the Belgians call "a dog with a hat on" -- something familiar, yet decidedly out of place. Parkin lays out the hard reality of the life--the drugs, the payoffs, the betrayals by teammates, the battles with team owners for contracts and money, the endless promises that keep you going, the agony of racing day after day, and the glory of a good day in the saddle. A Dog in a Hat is the unforgettable story of the un-ordinary education of Joe Parkin and his love affair with racing, set in the hardest place in the world to be a bike racer. It is a story untold until now, and one that you will never forget.

It's the beginning of trout fishing season, and Josh Greenberg—proprietor of one of the nation's most famous fishing outfitters, on America's most iconic trout-fishing stream, the Au Sable River in Michigan—is standing in the Au Sable at dusk when he gets the call that a dear fishing buddy has died. The solace he takes from fishing—from reading the movement of the river water, studying the play of the light, and relying on his knowledge of insect and fish life—prompts him to reflect on the impact of the natural world on his life in his fisherman's journal.Over the course of a year, the journal transcends fishing notes to include some beautifully lyrical nature writing, entertaining stories of the big one that got away, cheerful introspection about a love that's hard to explain, and yes, a tip or two.Eventually, Josh Greenberg realizes he hasn't been all alone in the woods, not really. Much of his relationship with his family and friends has played out on the river. And as he catches—and releases—trout after trout back into one of the most beautiful rivers in America, Greenberg comes to help us realize, too, that there's more to fishing than catching fish.

The groundbreaking invention of college football metrics that consistently explain game results and accurately value teams for their quality of play.  Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics presents the Relative Performance Grading (RPG) system of statistical measures, which ends all arguments over how good college football teams are relative to one another. Using modern analytics and a dash of ingenious reasoning, Mike Nemeth exposes the need for, and then invents, a new set of statistical measures to explain how and why one team wins and another loses a college football game. The new statistics assign a numerical grade to the playing performances of both winners and losers, just as a student receives a numerical grade on a school test. The grades in this RPG system replace won/lost records and differentiate well-played wins from ugly wins and well-played losses from ugly losses. RPG accurately ranks college football teams according to how well they’ve played the game, i.e. how good a team they are (and, NOT how good their record appears to be).
