Synopsis

Actor and musician Ian Roberts is something of a South African icon, renowned for his roles as the rugged Boer fighter Sloet Steenkamp in the TV series Arende and as Boet in the immortal and immensely popular Castrol advertisements.
Ian had an unconventional youth, running wild on his family's citrus farm in the Eastern Cape. There he grew a love of nature and first learnt the art of communicating with an audience through song and story.
A master storyteller with a wicked sense of humour, Ian offers a highly entertaining glimpse of how actors make the magic happen, whether on a theatre stage or before the TV cameras. Drawing on a career that runs from Long Street to Los Angeles, and from Shakespeare to Tsotsi, Ian provides a masterclass on the art of acting, making his life story a vital guide to aspiring actors.
His no-nonsense and fearless approach to life means he has never hesitated to tackle challenging roles and to do things in his own, unconventional way. Today, as frontman for Die Radio Kalahari Orkes, he continues to follow his heart.

Walden is a book by American author Henry David Thoreau, first published in 1854. The book is a personal reflection on Thoreau's experience of living in a cabin he built himself on the shore of Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts.
The book is divided into eighteen chapters, each detailing Thoreau's observations and musings on topics such as nature, solitude, simplicity, self-reliance, and the importance of living deliberately. Thoreau sought to live a simple, intentional life, in which he could cultivate his own thoughts and gain a deeper understanding of himself and the world around him.
Throughout the book, Thoreau also reflects on the value of nature, which he saw as a source of spiritual and intellectual inspiration. He describes the changing seasons, the wildlife around Walden Pond, and the rhythms of life in the natural world.
In addition to its philosophical themes, Walden is also a work of social and political criticism. Thoreau critiques the materialism and consumerism of his time, arguing that people are too often focused on acquiring wealth and possessions, rather than living a meaningful life. He also discusses issues such as slavery and the role of the individual in society.
Overall, Walden is a classic work of American literature that continues to inspire readers with its message of simplicity, self-reliance, and appreciation for the natural world.

A man, an amputee, a dual amputee, wanders the West alone on half of a foot to discover what life has to offer. He takes off, running the only way he still knows how, in a car. A car procured from selling his prosthetic leg (the expensive one) on eBay.
This true tale follows him on an adventure to angelic views in Zion National Park, to the top of the world in Death Valley, to mingling with the rainbow people, to pushing himself around in a wheelchair on the streets of Las Vegas, Nevada. The story turns back to how he found himself ‘hopping’ about and the drug addiction which caused it.
While purposely estranged from his family, he learns mingling with others to accept differences and to resist judgement. Also, the deep importance of family. And most importantly that ‘we are not defined by our mistakes’.
