Beschreibung

Fashion Brand Rivalries explores the intense competitive relationships that have shaped the fashion industry. It argues that these rivalries, often fueled by ego and the pursuit of market dominance, have been a catalyst for innovation. The book examines how personal clashes between designers, such as the contrasting visions that led to distinct aesthetic identities, and strategic battles between fashion houses have resulted in iconic designs and marketing moments. The book also delves into the emergence of disruptive brands challenging established norms through innovative business models and marketing tactics. Did you know that these rivalries often lead to groundbreaking designs and strategies? Each chapter builds upon the last, beginning with an introduction to rivalry in fashion. Through biographies, industry publications, and historical sales data, Fashion Brand Rivalries presents a detailed analysis of how competition drives creativity and influences brand perception. By focusing on these competitive dynamics, the book provides valuable insights for students, industry professionals, and anyone interested in fashion history and the forces that shape style.

What do you do when you need help or have questions about raising a child? You could talk to another parent, find a book on the subject, or search the Internet, with the hope of finding helpful information. But what do you do when the "child" is your parent?
I am talking about raising a parent with dementia. Your own parent is slowly reverting back to childhood but remaining in a fully aged body. It's a whole new endeavor, taking full responsibility for someone who once raised you.
Many years ago, I had to place my mom in 24-hour assisted living care. She no longer recognized her surroundings. If she left her home, she could not find her way back. She could no longer remember to take her medications properly. She had even forgotten her own children. It was a very painful time in my life. Witnessing my mother losing her memories broke my heart. I began to journal through the pain. The blank page was a good place for my fears and frustrations. While I was writing not only did I sense a need to vent my emotions, but I began recognizing how many other people must be going through this same journey, and how painful it must be for them.
So here we are. I am hoping and praying that the words you are about to read will somehow brighten your day, warm your heart, and help you feel a little less alone in your journey of raising a parent with dementia.
What brings me to these pages of stories is that I continued to be taught about life by my mother. As she changed from the mother that I knew growing up, through the years of watching her slowly lose her memory while her body stayed strong, she still had lessons for me to learn.
My desire is to share those insights with you. I hope they will be a comfort.

Dumas's 'Celebrated Crimes' was not written for children. The novelist has spared no language--has minced no words--to describe the violent scenes of a violent time.In some instances facts appear distorted out of their true perspective, and in others the author makes unwarranted charges. The careful, mature reader, for whom the books are intended, will recognize, and allow for, this fact. Summary from publishers note.

Jatadharer Bakshi Samagra is a comic anthology (trilogy) based on a facetious cheat, penned by the legendary humorist - Rajshekhar Basu alias Parashuram, whom he constructed as one who used to get people under his spell with his gift of the gab. Spontaneity and imagination were such a natural disposition of this cheat that the gullible fell for his sleight repeatedly and almost happily and voluntarily till they realized it again.
One of the leading lights among the Bengal intellectuals of that era, Rajshekhar Basu alias Parashuram, served us well with his characteristic humor-coated sarcasm that made fun of the irrationality and deep superstitions that were plaguing the society and its people. Yet his writings ring as foresight even in this age of information overflow.

LibriVox volunteers bring you 15 recordings of To The Gnat by Samuel Rogers. This was the Weekly Poetry project for May 19, 2013.Some comments from our readers.. "It might seem a tad mellow dramatic, but if you live in the country as I do, this might just resonate. Here it is the mosquito that presents as my mortal enemy, and if it infiltrates my room at night, there is no sleeping until it has been vanquished. (Arielph)"Coming from Scotland as I do where we have the dreaded Midgie, which feels like it has the teeth of a Doberman, I can sympathize with the poet on his anticipation of a sleepless night." (RMac01)"with midgies to the left of me, midgies to the right of me, I feel for Samuel Rogers!" (jannie)
