Beschreibung

Banned Film Scenes explores the fascinating world of movie censorship, revealing how specific scenes have been cut, altered, or banned across different countries. The book examines the cultural taboos, political sensitivities, and other reasons behind these decisions, showcasing the complex interplay between film, culture, and authority.

Did you know that censorship decisions often reflect a strategic desire to maintain specific social orders or suppress dissenting voices? Or that seemingly innocuous scenes can be deemed dangerous due to religious objections or moral concerns? This book uniquely drills down into particular instances of censorship, offering a nuanced narrative rather than a broad survey of film history. It furnishes historical context regarding film regulation and cultural norms, helping readers understand the shifting standards of acceptability over time.

Each chapter focuses on specific themes, such as sexually suggestive content or politically subversive material, presenting case studies of censored scenes and their impact. Banned Film Scenes progresses by introducing the concept of film censorship and its evolution, culminating in an examination of its broader implications for artistic expression and democratic values.

Algorithms are not to be regarded as a technical structure but as a social phenomenon - they embed themselves, currently still very subtle, into our political and social system. Algorithms shape human behavior on various levels: they influence not only the aesthetic reception of the world but also the well-being and social interaction of their users. They act and intervene in a political and social context. As algorithms influence individual behavior in these social and political situations, their power should be the subject of critical discourse - or even lead to active disobedience and to the need for appropriate tools and methods which can be used to break the algorithmic power.

The Great Sphinx of Giza is one of the most iconic and enigmatic monuments in the world. It stands as a symbol of ancient Egypt's grandeur, captivating historians, archaeologists, and tourists alike. The monument, which lies near the pyramids of Giza, is a colossal limestone statue with the body of a lion and the head of a human, believed to represent the Pharaoh Khafre. Its massive size and mysterious features have sparked fascination and numerous theories about its purpose, creation, and significance throughout history.
The origins of the Sphinx are shrouded in mystery, with its construction dating back to the Old Kingdom of Egypt, around 2500 BCE. Some scholars believe that the Sphinx was carved during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre, who also commissioned the construction of the second pyramid at Giza. Others propose that the monument predates Khafre's reign, possibly dating back to the reign of his father, Pharaoh Sneferu. While the precise dating remains uncertain, the Sphinx is undoubtedly a product of Egypt's architectural and artistic achievements, built to withstand the test of time.
The significance of the Sphinx in ancient Egyptian culture is multifaceted. In Egyptian mythology, lions were often associated with strength, power, and protection. The body of the lion, combined with the human head, symbolizes the union of human intelligence and animal strength, a combination that represented the ideal qualities of a ruler. The Sphinx’s location near the pyramids further emphasizes its role as a guardian, watching over the tombs of the pharaohs and ensuring their safe passage into the afterlife. The monument also reflects the Egyptians' reverence for their gods and the divine authority bestowed upon their rulers.

    Introduction to ADHD in Women
Though ADHD is more commonly diagnosed in boys and men, it affects girls and women as well. A recent study found that girls with ADHD are more likely to have anxiety and mood disorders, as well as problems with social interactions. They are also more likely to have lower self-esteem and problems with body image.
There is still a lot we don't know about how ADHD affects women and girls. In particular, we need more research on how best to treat the unique symptoms that affect them. However, there are some treatments that have been shown to be effective for both genders. One such treatment is mindfulness meditation.Treatment for ADHD in women
While medication may be the most talked about treatment for ADHD, there are other options that can be helpful. Treatment for ADHD in women often includes therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and/or mindfulness meditation. In a landmark study at the UCLA in 2007, 24 adults with ADHD took part in an 8 week programme of regular guided meditations. Participants reported improvements in their anxiety and depressive symptoms along with improvements in ADHD symptoms and in test performance on tasks measuring attention and cognitive inhibition.
My hope is that through regularly listening to the guided meditations in this audiobook, you can also benefit from an improvement in your symptoms.Guided meditation book for ADHD and women
