Amelia knew that Kristen had been grooming her, not just for a higher position in the company, but for personal reasons as well.

When Amelia looked back, she realized it was obvious. She had missed the first few signs, but as the process had moved along, she had willingly participated.

That all culminated with her flying on the corporate jet to a resort that Kristen promised was everything a woman could dream about. Kristen said that the only things Amelia needed to bring with her was a sunhat, sunglasses, and sandals. The three essentials she had called it.

“Nervous?” Kristen asked.

Amelia realized she had been gripping the armrests of the seat much harder than she realized. Forcing herself to relax, she took a breath. Calming herself wasn’t helped when Kristen extended her arm and placed her hand on top of Amelia’s. They were sitting side-by-side in the small plane and there were a few other passengers on the flight with them. It wasn’t a private setting, but it was damn close.
