Beschreibung

In "Boys of The Fort; Or, A Young Captain's Pluck," Edward Stratemeyer crafts an exhilarating tale set against the backdrop of frontier America, brimming with adventure, bravery, and youthful camaraderie. The narrative follows a group of boys who aspire to valor as they fortify their stronghold against challenges and adversaries. Stratemeyer'Äôs straightforward, yet engaging prose reflects the early 20th-century literary style that aimed to entertain and inspire young readers while reinforcing ideals of courage and resourcefulness. The book is part of the larger Stratemeyer Syndicate, which sought to produce wholesome and morally instructive literature for children during a time when publishers were increasingly aware of their influence on youth character formation. Edward Stratemeyer (1862-1930), a pivotal figure in children's literature, was motivated by his own childhood experiences and a belief in the formative power of stories. His dedication to creating engaging narratives to empower young boys resonates throughout this work. Stratemeyer's unique approach to storytelling, often employing a team of ghostwriters, allowed him to extensively broaden the imaginary horizons for the youth of his era, imparting values of adventure, friendship, and perseverance. "Boys of The Fort; Or, A Young Captain's Pluck" is highly recommended for young readers and those interested in historical adventure literature, as it not only encapsulates the spirit of adventure but also serves as a testament to Stratemeyer'Äôs legacy in shaping literature for generations. This captivating narrative invites readers to explore the values of bravery and teamwork, making it a timeless addition to any child's library.

Grimms' Fairy Tales, originally known as the Children's and Household Tales (German: Kinder- und Hausmärchen), is a German collection of fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm, first published on 20 December 1812. Vol. 1 of the first edition contained 86 stories, which were followed by 70 more tales, numbered consecutively, in the 1st edition, Vol. 2, in 1815. By the seventh edition in 1857, the corpus of tales had expanded to 200 tales and 10 "Children's Legends". It is listed by UNESCO in its Memory of the World Registry.Origin:Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were two of ten children from Dorothea (née Zimmer) and Philipp Wilhelm Grimm. Philipp was a highly regarded district magistrate in Steinau an der Straße, about 50 kilometres (31 mi) from Hanau. Jacob and Wilhelm were sent to school for a classical education once they were of age, while their father was working. They were very hard-working pupils throughout their education. They followed in their father's footsteps and started to pursue a degree in law, and German history. In 1796, their father died at the age of 44 from pneumonia. This was a tragic time for the Grimms because the family lost all financial support and relied on their aunt, Henriette Zimmer, and grandfather, Johann Hermann Zimmer. At the age of 11, Jacob was compelled to be head of the household and provide for his family. After downsizing their home because of financial reasons, Henriette sent Jacob and Wilhelm to study at the prestigious high school, Lyzeum, in Kassel. In school, their grandfather wrote to them saying that because of their current situation, they needed to apply themselves industriously to secure their future welfare.
