He prays he will have to dig no more, for everyone knows the war is drawing to a close. But as German lines bend, then break, the Allies gain access to vast tracts of territory, including areas believed to contain advanced military research projects where the Nazis desperately work on war-ending super weapons. Captain Louis Weiner of the OSS believes he knows the location of one such facility, deep in the ancient forest, where scientists are developing the world’s first night-vision weapon, code-named Vampir. All Weiner needs is an armed escort — Granville and his platoon get the job. Granville is only too happy to get his guys off the front line, but he and Weiner are soon to find there is far more to the research project than expected. House of Shadows is Part One of a three part series. Both Veil of Shadows, Part Two and Passage of Shadows, Part Three, are avalable on Amazon, as well.
After losing her father and nearly losing her life when their ship sank off the coast of Cornwall, Adelaide Hampton Parke is faced with a terrible dilemma. Her stepmother has demanded that they immediately set sail for New York but the very idea of stepping foot on board another ship and facing the uncertainty of a Transatlantic crossing leaves her paralyzed with fear. Not to mention that her relationship with her stepmother is contentious at best and she's been given only six months to return to New York and find herself a husband or be put out of the family's Park Avenue home to make her own way in the world.
Salvation comes, unexpectedly, in the form of a telegram from Eldren Llewellyn a Welsh lord and the sole owner of a mining empire. He'd partnered with her father in multiple business ventures, and upon the man's death, proposed to Adelaide in order to spare her the ordeal of returning home in her stepmother's less than tender care. But as she travels to his remote estate in Snowdonia, Adelaide comes to realize that his ancestral home, Cysgod Lys, literally the Shadow Hall, is filled with secrets and dark things she cannot name. Fear is her constant companion and she begins to wonder if her new husband is her savior... or her doom.

"From Beyond" is a horror short story by American writer H. P. Lovecraft. It was written in 1920 and was first published in The Fantasy Fan in June 1934. The story is told from the first-person perspective of an unnamed narrator and details his experiences with a scientist named Crawford Tillinghast. Tillinghast creates an electronic device that emits a resonance wave, which stimulates an affected person's pineal gland, thereby allowing them to perceive planes of existence outside the scope of accepted reality. Sharing the experience with Tillinghast, the narrator becomes cognizant of a translucent, alien environment that overlaps our own recognized reality. From this perspective, he witnesses hordes of strange and horrific creatures that defy description. Tillinghast reveals that he has used his machine to transport his house servants into the overlapping plane of reality. He also reveals that the effect works both ways, and allows the alien creature denizens of the alternate dimension to perceive humans. Tillinghast's servants were attacked and killed by one such alien entity, and Tillinghast informs the narrator that it is right behind him. Terrified beyond measure, the narrator picks up a gun and shoots it at the machine, destroying it. Tillinghast dies immediately thereafter as a result of apoplexy. The police investigate the scene and it isplaced on record that Tillinghast murdered the servants in spite of their remains never being found.

Amidst the 2020 pandemic, Norah Sloane has been sheltering in place with her ex-boyfriend—the equivalent of three toddlers in a trench coat pretending to be an adult—who abruptly informs her he thinks she needs to move out. Coincidentally, her estranged father has just died and left his family’s home to her, and in a fit of defiant frustration, she packs her bags, her cats, and all the toilet paper, and drives five hours north to the tiny village of Hope Falls to claim her inheritance.
Selling the big, partially renovated old house during a global pandemic is out of the question, but the bills are paid for a few months to give her time to get on her feet. It’s the best solution, all things considered.
    So what if it’s haunted?
