Ultimately, with the demon banished and Atlantis beginning to crumble, the heroes escape dramatically back to the surface. The Maracot Deep combines Doyle's scientific curiosity with swashbuckling fantasy, offering a Jules Verne-esque tale with Doyle's twist of mystical conflict.
