Ten-year old Lottie Moon had seen too much bitterness and gossip among churchgoers to want anything to do with religion or God. In fact, if there was a single way to waste a life, Lottie told herself, being a missionary was it. In a twist that only God could orchestrate, this spirited young girl who grew up to become the most educated woman in the American South would ultimately find her calling as a missionary to China. As Lottie watched her fellow missionaries fall to disease, exhaustion, mental breakdowns, and death, she became just as dedicated to educating Christians about the often preventable tragedies of missionary life as she was to educating Chinese people about the Christian life. The sacrificial service of the unforgettable Lottie Moon has inspired and enabled countless others to give their all for the dream of seeing the whole world reached with the gospel.

Thomas Paine was a political activist, theorist, political theorist, and revolutionary who was born in England. He wrote 2 of the most popular handouts at the beginning of the American Revolution, Common Sense (1776) and The American Crisis (1776-- 1783) and helped motivate patriots to announce independence from Great Britain in 1776. His thoughts echoed the Knowledge's global human rights concepts.
Paine, who was born in Thetford, Norfolk, relocated to the British American groups with the support of Benjamin Franklin in 1774, in the nick of time to participate in the American Revolution. Practically each rebel read (or heard to a reading of) his 47-page brochure Good sense, which was proportionally the very popular American title of perpetuity and catalyzed the defiant need for independence from Great Britain. The American Crisis was a pamphlet series that promoted for revolution. Paine spent the most of the 1790s in France, where he ended up being deeply immersed in the Reign of terror. He wrote Rights of Man (1791), which was partially a defense to the challengers of the Reign of terror. In 1792, he was tried and found guilty in England for seditious libel in his lack for his attacks on Anglo-Irish conservative author Edmund Burke.
Thomas Paine has certainly left his mark. He’s become a historical figure worth remembering. Let’s explore more about his life and mission in this book.

In the Shadow of Enlightenment is the gripping story of Carroll’s childhood inside the Osho Rajneesh cult—one of the most controversial spiritual movements of the 20th century. While in the commune, Sarito was submerged in a world where devotion and freedom clashed with manipulation, sexual misconduct, and neglect. This was the life she knew until the movement collapsed amid scandal and criminal charges in 1985, when sixteen-year-old Sarito was thrust into a society she knew little about.
Now, decades later, after battling shame, fear, and self-doubt, Sarito breaks her silence to expose the abuse, exploitation, and disillusionment she endured in the Rajneesh community. She stands up against this formidable spiritual institution that promised liberation while concealing dark secrets behind its facade of love and joy. With raw honesty and heart-wrenching clarity, she recounts her fight to reclaim her identity, confront the community’s betrayal, and heal on her own terms. It is a powerful story of survival, resilience, courage, and hard-won freedom.
In the Shadow of Enlightenment is a profoundly moving exposé about the hidden dangers lurking behind charismatic leaders and spiritual movements. It will inspire and challenge you to question where you place your trust.

Between 2016 and his retirement in 2022, Assistant Garda Commissioner John O'Driscoll was the public face of garda operations targeting organised crime. This put him at the centre of a long-running quest to bring about the demise of the Kinahan drug cartel, culminating in US sanctions being imposed – an unprecedented development, spearheaded by O'Driscoll.
But the Kinahans were just some of the many notorious drug dealers and criminals O'Driscoll successfully brought to book. During his tenure at Dublin's Store Street, he was tasked with reckoning with the heroin epidemic, and his unique approach to community policing got to the root of the power of infamous criminals like Tony Felloni, Michael Cronin and Derek Dunne, stripping them of their assets.
Spanning a period of unprecedented change that challenged the very nature of fighting crime in Ireland, On Duty, the first ever memoir of an Assistant Garda Commissioner, offers a unique insight into policing at the highest level.
