Synopsis

Twenty-something Ruthie Cohen, a data entry minion for a second-tier movie app, spends her days thinking about the kickass meals she’s going to make for her besties, Trish and Lilly, while pining for Dean (sigh, Dean), her vacation fling from six months earlier. Could they have made it work in real life?

On top of that, Bubbe Bobby Grace, Ruthie’s beloved and inspiring grandmother, passed away and left Ruthie an inheritance of $62,873.42, along with instructions on how to use it: “Follow your passion, Dollface.” During a prosecco-fueled night with her gal pals, Ruthie decides to turn her passion into a career and learn the art of French cooking, enrolling in culinary school, paying tuition, and buying her chef’s whites with a few quick clicks online. It’s not long before Ruthie marches into the kitchen and feels the heat from her cooking partner, Jeff, the super hunky (totally taken!) musician that weasels his way into her brain — right next to Dean.

How can anyone be expected to focus on school, cooking, career planning, baking, friends, and deciding between two hot guys, especially when one of them also thinks that John Cusack is woefully underrated? And what if neither feels quite like Ruthie’s perfect pairing?

Teddy Lint is the kindest private investigator on the planet, committed to seeing the best in everyone he meets. The detective agency he runs out of a Los Angeles strip mall with his brother Ralph has seen a strange case or two before, but never anything like this. A man claiming to work for the CIA hires the Lints to find a shipping container of radioactive Agent Orange that vanished over fifty years ago. He insists someone is planning on using an army of drones to drench L.A. with the deadly chemicals before the week is out.
The Lint Brothers enter a maze of bizarre suspects, from nefarious ad executives, to anarchistic Boy Scouts, to a toga-clad militia fighting for exclusive rule by women. The propaganda-obsessed society that seems to be running the world is probably worth looking into as well. The power of empathy collides with the dangers of disinformation as Teddy fights to save the people he loves. Our beloved detective doesn't give up easily, but any Angelenos with an aversion to death by herbicide might want to dust off that umbrella, just in case . . .

"Polite-Ticks: Blood-Sucking Policy Seeks Healthy Hosts"
In this riotous and tweezer-grabbing political satire, "Polite-Ticks" exposes the parasitic side of modern politics, where politicians and lobbyists act like blood-sucking ticks. They latch onto democracy, slowly draining it dry while hiding behind handshakes and promises. With biting humor and real-world examples, this book uncovers how polite ticks bloat the budget, erode freedoms, and divide society—all while keeping the host (that’s us) blissfully unaware. Packed with hilarious insights, sharp sarcasm, and a civil anarchy plan to take back control, this is your guide to spotting the polite ticks feeding on your future and finally giving them the boot, fire, and flush they deserve!

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. Welcome to Azalea Plantation, where the past is never quite at rest…
Kelly Sky didn’t expect much when she moved to the historic Azalea Plantation under the care of her guardian, Lizzie Higgins. But between her knack for stumbling into mysteries and her mischievous cat, Harry, “quiet” was never really an option.
When Kelly discovers a dusty photo album in the library, she’s drawn into the hauntingly beautiful history of the plantation—and its most famous resident, Elizabeth Higgins, a woman whose ghost might still be lingering among the azaleas. A hidden locket, a trail of mysterious azalea blossoms, and a family secret long buried in the attic set Kelly and Harry on a race to solve the puzzle before Halloween.
But not everyone at Azalea Plantation is thrilled about Kelly’s presence. Freddy Higgins, Lizzie’s scheming cousin, is determined to protect the family’s legacy—even if it means stirring up trouble. As tensions rise and secrets unfold, Kelly must untangle a century-old mystery with the help of some unlikely allies, both living and… otherwise.
With a Halloween party to plan, a ghost who won’t take no for an answer, and a cat who always seems to know more than he lets on, Kelly is in for one unforgettable October.
Can Kelly uncover the truth behind the locket—and her connection to Elizabeth—before it’s too late?
Perfect for fans of charming small-town mysteries, mischievous cats, and a dash of the supernatural, Harry’s Haunted Halloween will leave you enchanted and eager to uncover the next secret at Azalea Plantation.

International bestselling author Julie Mae Cohen returns with a delicious new novel about three very different women and what unites them: the man they’re holding hostage

A friend will help you move on. A best friend will help you move his body.

Marina gave up her career as a chef to raise her children, but her divorce has left her harried, lonely, and the black sheep of her family. It’s also left her in dire financial straits. Opal is a post-menopausal fitness guru who spends her days chasing likes and followers in an industry that worships youth. Even her glossy online persona can’t mask her checkered past. Lilah is a shy and optimistic librarian who spends her days tending to the stacks, until she wins an unbelievable sum in the lottery. With a growing bank account and a dashing fiancé, life seems too good to be true—and it just might be.

These three women have nothing in common except for one thing: the man who’s been lying to them all … and who they are now holding hostage in Marina’s basement. As this shared secret brings them closer together, other, deadlier problems come crashing into their lives. Can they put their differences aside to save themselves—and each other?

Eat, Slay, Love is a raucous novel about friendship, finding joy, and becoming your best self, even if that sometimes involves kidnap and murder.

    “[A] darkly funny thriller.”—RED MAGAZINE
