Synopsis

Personality development takes place through education. A person is shaped by many factors like family, friends, teachers etc. Some are seen to develop perverse attitudes, while others are seen to be cultured. Mallapa Dhavande in the novel 'Navi Pahat' has a distorted attitude. His son Dinesh Dhavande has a miraculous attitude following in his father's footsteps. The boys and girls of the 9th batch of the school have a distorted attitude. The teachers who teach them do not pay attention to it. But few teachers are teachers in the true sense of the word, and are seen to nurture the spoiled boys and girls. Over time, the nature of such boys and girls seems to have changed. Teachers who bring about such transformations are respected. It is explained by the novel 'Navi Pahat'. 
व्यक्तिमत्त्वाचा विकास हा शिक्षणाच्या माध्यमातून होत असतो. कुटुंब, मित्र-परिवार, शिक्षक इत्यादी अनेक घटकांतून माणसाची जडणघडण होत असते. काही जण विकृत मनोवृत्ती घडवताना दिसतात, तर काही जण मात्र सुसंस्कृत घडवले जाताना दिसतात. 'नवी पहाट' या कादंबरीतील मल्लापा धावडे हा विकृत मनोवृत्तीचा आहे. त्याचा मुलगा दिनेश धावडे हा वडिलांच्या पावलावर पाऊल टाकणारा चमत्कारिक वृत्तीचा आहे. शाळेतील ९ ड या तुकडीतील मुले व मुली विकृत मनोवृत्तीच्या आहेत. त्यांना शिकवणारे शिक्षक त्याकडे लक्ष देत नाहीत. मात्र थोडे शिक्षक हे खऱ्या अर्थाने शिक्षक असून, बिघडलेल्या मुला- मुलींवर सुसंस्कार करताना दिसतात. कालांतरात अशा मुला-मुलींच्या स्वभावात परिवर्तन झालेले दिसते. अशा प्रकारचे परिवर्तन घडवणाऱ्या शिक्षकांबद्दल आदरभाव निर्माण होत असतो. 'नवी पहाट' या कादंबरीतून त्याचे स्पष्टीकरण मिळते.
