Synopsis

Long time, there is gross ignorance about Islam in the Hindu society. Muslim psyche and behavior are influenced by Islamic philosophy. Therefore, it is impossible to understand the affairs of Muslims without understanding the innermost aspects of Islam. The study of Islamic theology and jurisprudence has practical importance. Islam is a universal system of life and Islam has a specific role in virtually every aspect of life. Islam does not distinguish between personal and public, mundane and transcendental. 
Various aspects of Islam and views of Islam on various subjects are given in this book. Fundamentals of Islam, Quran and Al-Hadith are the foundation of Islam and Shariat is given in the first part of the book. Information about various sects among Muslims is given in the second part. The position of Islam on the eight subjects of women, marriage, procreation, infidels, jihad, dhimmis, waqf and apostasy is elaborated in the third part. 
इस्लाम गेली तेराशे वर्षे भारतात आहे. या देशात हिंदू-मुस्लिम प्रदीर्घ काळ राहत असूनही इस्लामविषयी हिंदू समाजात घोर अज्ञान आहे. मुस्लिम मानस आणि व्यवहार यांच्यावर इस्लामी तत्त्वज्ञानाचा पगडा आहे. त्यामुळे इस्लामचे अंतरंग समजल्याशिवाय मुस्लिमांच्या व्यवहाराची संगती लागणे अशक्य असते. इस्लामी धर्मशास्त्र व न्यायशास्त्र यांच्या अभ्यासाला व्यावहारिक महत्त्व आहे. इस्लाम ही सर्वव्यापी जीवनप्रणाली असून जीवनाच्या अक्षरशः प्रत्येक अंगाबाबत इस्लामची विशिष्ट भूमिका आहे. वैयक्तिक आणि सार्वजनिक, लौकिक आणि पारलौकिक असा भेद इस्लाम करीत नाही. 
इस्लामचे विविध पैलू आणि विविध विषयांबाबत इस्लामचा दृष्टिकोन प्रस्तुत ग्रंथात दिले आहेत. इस्लामची मूलतत्त्वे, कुराण व अल्-हदीस हे इस्लामचे मूलाधार व शरियत यांची माहिती ग्रंथाच्या पहिल्या भागात दिलेली आहे. मुस्लिमांमधील विविध पंथोपपंथांची माहिती दुसऱ्या भागात दिलेली आहे. स्त्री, विवाह, संततीनियमन, काफिर, जिहाद, धिम्मी, वक्फ आणि धर्मत्याग या आठ विषयांबाबत इस्लामची भूमिका तिसऱ्या भागात विशद केलेली आहे.
