Certo, viene da un albeggiare la poesia di Ivano Fermini, da un'alberatura di feti in glicine, dall'angelo che gemma nel suo contrario, la creatura-toro, l'iddio candelabro, a sette teste, a molteplici lingue. Viene da un nessundove del verbo, Fermini, e con tenue fermezza mette in tiro la falce: da questo scalpo – che chiamammo deserto oppure Emmaus, Pitiche o Bicorne – giunge uno scalpitio che non ha parentela nelle storie della letteratura patria. Scoperto, con iliadica fraternità, da Milo De Angelis ("Una poesia così affilata non può sprecare parole, deve essere esatta", scrisse), Fermini – fato del poeta in perpetuo espatrio –, infine, sparì. Trovò un complice – e per quel frantume di tempo, un amico – in Aldo Nove: lo stesso linguaggio tra i calanchi, lo stesso macello in virtù di più vocalica purezza. Qui, allora, per così dire, si rimpatria; di questo libro, che incorpora le raccolte più vertiginose di Fermini, si può dire: è un cenacolo, è l'elsa del fuoco.
