Synopsis

Rio's journey finds him stumbling upon a village in the Yagumo region, where he is welcomed into the home of Chief Yuba and finds friendship with Sayo and Ruri, two girls close to him in age. Suddenly, the king and queen request Rio's audience in the capital, where they discuss the secret of his parents' origins, his birth, and a tragic past that has made him an arbiter of vengeance.

As time passes and Rio prepares to leave the village, Sayo's feelings morph into something more complicated—but will she be able to articulate them before their time together is up?

The narrator arrives in Berlin, a place famed for its hedonism, to find peace and maybe love; only to discover that the problems which have long haunted him have arrived there too, and are more present than ever. As he approaches his fortieth birthday, nearing the age where his father was killed in a brutal revolution, he drifts through this endlessly addictive and sometimes mystical city, through its slow days and bottomless nights, wondering whether he will ever escape the damage left by his father's death. With the world as a whole more uncertain, as both the far-right and global temperatures rise at frightening speed, he finds himself fighting a fierce inner battle against his turbulent past, for a future free of his fear of failure, of persecution, and of intimacy.
In The End, It Was All About Love is a journey of loss and self-acceptance that takes its nameless narrator all the way through bustling Berlin to his roots, a quiet village on the Uganda-Sudan border. It is a bracingly honest story of love, sexuality and spirituality, of racism, dating, and alienation; of fleeing the greatest possible pain, and of the hopeful road home.

Fortunately, the pariah state (and its 50-hole golf course, built overnight by Kurds and Jews) borders Iran, a fact that K Street uberlobbyist Duke is retained to parlay into a major U.S. arms package.Meanwhile, across town, the crumbling of the newspaper industry crushes Rick Redfern's hope of continuing employment. Philosophers have always enjoyed asking awkward and provocative questions, such as:

What is the nature of reality?

What are human beings really like?

What is special about the human mind and consciousness?

Are we free to choose who we are and what we do?

Can we prove that God exists?

Can we be certain about anything at all?

    What is truth?

Does language provide us with a true picture of the world?

How should we behave towards each other?

    Do computers think?
Introducing Philosophy is a comprehensive graphic guide to the thinking of all the significant philosophers of the Western world from Heraclitus to Derrida. It examines and explains their key arguments and ideas without being obscure or solemn. Lively and accessible, it is the perfect introduction to philosophers and philosophical ideas for anyone coming to the subject for the first time.
