Synopsis

After we decide what God has spoken to us on the earth, angels freely execute God's judgements repeated in heaven. After the heavenly council makes a decision or makes a judgment, a member of the divine council either serves as a divine messenger to convey the council's decision or an angel comes to carry out the divine judgment. The mission of angels is described prophetically by King David: "The Lord has set His throne in heaven, and His kingdom reigns supreme over everything. Bless the Lord, you His angels, who are strong and obey His will, listening to His voice. Bless the LORD, all you His hosts, all you His ministers who accomplish His will." Psalm 103:19-21

Why does God delay in answering?
Why do I pray, weep, fast—and still, silence?
In this soul-piercing sermon by Pope Shenouda III, known for his divine wisdom and spirit-led counsel, we explore one of the hardest and holiest questions:
Why does God seem far away in times of pain?
“Why, O Lord, do You stand far off? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10:1) And many of us today echo this cry.
But maybe God’s silence isn’t absence. Maybe it’s preparation. Maybe it’s grace.
Through powerful biblical stories—from Abraham to Joseph, Hannah to Elijah, from the Psalms to Isaiah and the New Testament—we uncover the deep truth:
God may delay, but He never forgets.
He works in silence. He prepares in stillness.
His “delay” is often His way of strengthening our soul, deepening our trust, cleansing our heart, and shaping us for a greater purpose.
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” (Psalm 37:7) “Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” (Isaiah 40:31)
This message is for every soul that has whispered,
“Lord, I’ve waited so long. Where are You?”
“Faith is not believing that God will work… it is knowing that He is already working.” (John 5:17) “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.” (Joel 2:25)
📖 Let this message bring peace to the restless, calm to the weary, and hope to the discouraged.

Murray expresses his desire that many would join the ranks of intercessors—those who pray continually, in unison, for the church of Christ and His kingdom on earth. He studies the "lost" secret of Pentecost: the sure promise that the power of the Holy Spirit will be given in answer to fervent prayer.

Is your church a rowboat church or a sailboat church?

Rowboat churches depend largely on human effort. When church budgets shrink and membership declines, rowboat churches frantically row harder against a current, often frustrated and disappointed at their efforts. Sailboat churches, on the other hand, take up the oars, hoist sails, and rely on the Holy Spirit to guide them.

Arguing that churches should be "sailboats," Joan S. Gray encourages listeners to shift concern from the many daily, practical concerns of their local church to fresh ideas that can be found using the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The book includes forty days of sailing prayers, quotes from Scripture, brief reflection questions, and an extensive bibliography that is arranged by theme. Perfect for groups to listen to together, this book will help leaders reframe their church's mission and practice with the Holy Spirit as their guide.
