Synopsis

The Mystery of Satorian Sword is a captivating journey into a world where ancient mysticism, powerful magic, and a battle between light and darkness collide. Set in the peaceful yet mystical village of Kimaru, this novel follows the story of Munari, a wise and revered leader of the Satorian monks, and his extraordinary sword imbued with the power of lightning. The Satorian monks, guardians of esoteric knowledge and divine wisdom, are the last line of defense against the dark forces known as the Reptilians.

When the Reptilians threaten Kimaru with their sinister intentions, Munari and his monks use their remarkable abilities in healing, protection, and enchantments to safeguard their people. But when the Reptilians kidnap Mira, a young woman from the village, and demand the surrender of Munari’s magical sword, Munari must make the ultimate sacrifice. Reluctantly, he agrees to give up the sword, knowing its magic will return to him when the time is right.

The Reptilians misuse the sword in a series of violent rampages, but they are unable to unlock its true powers. As battles ensue, the monks’ bravery and unwavering faith ultimately lead to the defeat of the Reptilians and the restoration of peace. Yet, the sword’s journey does not end there.

As Munari grows old, he decides to return the sword to its mystical origins in the Mocoha cave, where the next chosen one will inherit its power. The Satorian monks disperse, their teachings and influence spreading across the world, while the legacy of their order lives on, guiding future generations in the search for truth and enlightenment.

The Mystery of Satorian Sword weaves together themes of sacrifice, unity, and the transformative power of wisdom. It is a story about the eternal struggle between good and evil, and the enduring strength of communities bound by shared values. Rich with adventure, mysticism, and miraculous feats, this novel is a timeless tale of heroism and hope, destined to resonate with readers seeking stories of light overcoming darkness.

A bestseller and award-winner in Veronica Raimo's native Italy, Lost on Me is an irreverent and hilariously inverted bildungsroman from one of the most celebrated young writers working today.

Born into a family with an omnipresent mother who is devoted to her own anxiety, a father ruled by hygienic and architectural obsessions, and a precocious genius brother at the center of their attention, our heroine Vero languishes in boredom in her childhood home. Peering through tiny windows while cramped in her family coven, Vero periodically attempts to strike out but is no match for her mother's relentless tracking methods and masterful guilt trips. Vero's every venture outside their Rome apartment ends in her being unceremoniously returned home. It's no wonder that she becomes a writer—and a liar—inventing stories in a bid for her own sanity.

Spikey and clever, Vero delights in her own devious schemes. As she guides us through her failed attempts at emancipation, her discovery of sex and fixations with unwitting men, and ultimately her contentious relationship with reality, she also brings alive Rome from the 1980s through the early 2000s. With restless intelligence and covert tenderness, Lost on Me takes on the uncertain enterprise of becoming a woman.

Conrad Brent is about to find out.Conrad Brent protects the people of Brooklyn from monsters and magical threats. The snarky, wisecracking guardian also has a dangerous secret: he’s one in a million – literally.Magical ability comes to about one in every 30,000 and can manifest at any age. Conrad is rarer than this, however. He’s a middling, one of the half-gifted and totally despised. Most of the gifted community feels that middlings should be instantly killed. The few who don’t flat out hate them still aren’t excited to be around middlings. Meaning Conrad can’t tell anyone, not even his best friends, what he really is.Conrad hides in plain sight by being a part of the volunteer Watch, those magically gifted who protect their cities from dangerous, arcane threats. And, to pay the bills, Conrad moonlights as a private detective and monster hunter for the gifted community. Which helps him keep up his personal fiction – that he’s a magical version of Batman. Conrad does both jobs thanks to charms, artifacts, and his wits, along with copious amounts of coffee. But little does he know that events are about to change his life…forever. When Conrad discovers the Traveling Fair auction house has another middling who’s just manifested her so-called powers on the auction block, he’s determined to save her, regardless of risk. But what he finds out while doing so is even worse – the winning bidder works for a company that’s just created the most dangerous chemical weapon to ever hit the magical community. Before Conrad can convince anyone at the Watch of the danger, he’s exposed for what he really is. Now, stripped of rank, magical objects, friends and allies, Conrad has to try to save the world with only his wits. Thankfully though, no one’s taken away his coffee.
