A long-treasured but forgotten classic of folk healing, with an introduction and commentary by the author of Backwoods Witchcraft and Doctoring the Devil.Ossman & Steel’s Guide to Health or Household Instructor (its original title) is a collection of spells, remedies, and charms. The book draws from the old Pennsylvania Dutch and German powwow healing practices that in turn helped shape Appalachian folk healing, conjure, rootwork, and many folk healing traditions in America. Jake Richards, author of Backwoods Witchcraft and Doctoring the Devil, puts these remedies in context, with practical advice for modern-day “backwoods” healers interested to use them today. The first part contains spells and charms for healing wounds, styes, broken bones, maladies, and illnesses of all sorts. The second part includes other folk remedies using ingredients based on sympathetic reasoning, including sulfuric acid, gunpowder, or other substances for swelling, toothache, headache, and so on. These remedies are presented here for historic interest, to help better understand how folk medicine evolved in America. It is Jake Richard’s hope that reintroducing this work will reestablish its position as a useful household helper in the library of every witch or country healer.

Meanwhile, breaches of trust between companies and the public are becoming more frequent—and more costly.

If you read (or listen to) nothing else on trust, listen to these ten articles. We've combed through hundreds of Harvard Business Review articles and selected the most important ones to help you build, maintain, and repair trust, both as a leader and as a company.

This book will inspire you to: develop trust through competence, legitimacy, and impact; understand the neuroscience of trust; follow through on your commitments to stakeholders; negotiate better with an untrustworthy counterpart; see your company through the eyes of your customers; and rebuild relationships after a breakdown of trust.

Technology has transformed every aspect of modern life, reshaping the way people communicate, work, learn, and even think. The rapid evolution of digital tools, artificial intelligence, and automation has created new opportunities for innovation and progress. At the same time, it has introduced complex challenges, raising questions about privacy, security, and the ethical implications of technological advancement. While some argue that technology is a force for good, improving efficiency and convenience, others warn of its unintended consequences, such as addiction, misinformation, and social disconnection.

The digital revolution has promised to connect the world like never before, making information more accessible and enabling instant communication across continents. However, the same tools that foster global connectivity also contribute to a decline in real-world interactions. Social media platforms, for example, offer a space for people to share ideas, but they have also been linked to mental health issues, cyberbullying, and the spread of false information. Additionally, concerns about surveillance and data privacy have grown, as companies and governments collect vast amounts of personal information, often without users' full awareness or consent.

Another major area of technological impact is the workforce. Automation and artificial intelligence are changing the job market, replacing certain human roles while creating new ones. While these advancements increase efficiency and reduce costs, they also raise concerns about job displacement and economic inequality. Many industries, from manufacturing to customer service, have seen a shift toward AI-driven processes, leaving workers struggling to adapt. At the same time, some experts believe that technology can enhance human capabilities rather than replace them, leading to a future where humans and machines collaborate rather than compete.

The New York Times bestselling doctor and author of Clean shows us that it doesn’t matter where you live, how old you are, or what symptoms you suffer from, in 7 days you can change the course of your health forever.
The culmination of over thirty years of research, education, and practice, Dr. Alejandro Junger’s revolutionary, seven-day program is based around the core principles of Functional Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, and Intermittent Fasting. Each one of these practices alone can have positive and lasting effects, but when used together, they propel the body to health, weight-loss, symptom-reversal, and restoration.
The air we breathe, the water we drink and bathe in, the skin products we use, the detergents we clean with, the medications we take, but mostly the foods we eat, are loaded with toxic chemicals that cause all kinds of dysfunctions. We know this, but we feel powerless to control the effects - constipation, body aches and pains, allergies, migraines, stubborn weight, sleeplessness, depression and anxiety to name a few. In time and left unabated, these symptoms develop into full blown diseases, many of them life-altering, but even in the best-case scenario, they leave us uncomfortable and unwell. CLEAN7 is the medically-proven seven-day answer to this toxic overload. The one-week program you’ll discover in this audiobook offers day-by-day, hour-by-hour guidance with easy-to-follow meal plans and delicious recipes that guarantee success.
“Everything you need to know is in these pages and within one week you will not only feel amazing, look better, be mentally sharper, but you will also have a firm understanding of which foods work best for you and which foods work against you. And you will be able to discover this for yourself without expensive and often inaccurate food allergy tests. CLEAN7 is the health jumpstart that you have been waiting for.” Alejandro Junger, MD

    Nephrology - Kidney Health...

The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine, just below the ribcage. Despite their small size, each roughly the size of a fist, they play a vital role in maintaining overall health. As part of the urinary system, the kidneys filter waste, balance bodily fluids, regulate blood pressure, and contribute to red blood cell production. Understanding how the kidneys function is crucial for appreciating their importance and recognizing potential health concerns.
Each kidney contains about a million tiny filtering units called nephrons. These nephrons work tirelessly to remove waste products and excess fluids from the blood, which are then excreted as urine. The kidneys also help maintain the body’s electrolyte balance by regulating levels of sodium, potassium, and calcium. This precise balance is essential for proper nerve and muscle function. Additionally, the kidneys produce hormones such as erythropoietin, which stimulates red blood cell production in the bone marrow, and renin, which helps regulate blood pressure. Without the kidneys' ability to perform these tasks, the body would struggle to maintain equilibrium, leading to serious health complications.
One of the kidneys' primary functions is detoxification. Every day, they filter around 50 gallons of blood, removing harmful substances such as urea, creatinine, and toxins that accumulate from food, medications, and metabolic processes. This filtration process ensures that waste products do not build up to dangerous levels in the bloodstream. When kidney function declines, these substances can accumulate, leading to symptoms like fatigue, swelling, and confusion.
